- Humane treatment of animals has always been my passion, and while horses and humans have worked together since the beginning of time, horses remain one of the most misunderstood animals on our planet. Buck Brannaman has spent his lifetime with horses and he truly gets how the horse thinks, learns and feels. He has developed a communication with them that garners amazing results in a remarkable respectful way that the horse really responds to. After filming my documentary BUCK, I sat through the editing process wishing everyone could see and learn from the invaluable footage that I had. The documentary was very successful bringing awareness to Brannaman and his masterful horsemanship, but it wasn't the appropriate format to impart specific instructional techniques. It was my desire to complete my mission of making people aware of this kind of compassionate horsemanship that eliminates excessive harsh treatment and equipment, and encourages a more natural approach to the horse and his environment. It took over a year to review 300+ hours of footage and organized Buck's lessons into more than 10 hours of detailed instruction taken directly from his clinics, titled 7 Clinics with Buck Brannaman. Ive spent my life riding horses and taking lessons, but once I was taught this method, I realized that I had unknowingly spent many years just confusing my horses and putting them on the defensive. It is my mission that everyone ride in this manner, no matter what discipline, for the safety and joy of both horse and rider.
