A young man is recounting events in his childhood that led him to where he is to an unseen person. Next we see him as a child around 10 years old who is a lonely boy at school that is befriended by the school workman. At first, the workman is the only source of emotional warmth and kindness in his life. Things deteriorate quickly and we eventually come to understand both the impact of those childhood events as well as the true nature of the opening scene.

Ben hasn't seen much of his son lately. After a rough night, it seems too late for the father to make it to his son's birthday. But he is not giving up and will stop at nothing to prove to his son and his family, how much he still cares.

The world is facing a crisis. Australia has been vanquished and the future of humanity is in jeopardy. The most influential individuals from around the world come together to decide the fate of the world once and for all. This meeting, however, will ultimately change the face of the Earth as we know it.
