- Frankie Toyer (aged 22 but mentally disabled) hears a woman screaming and tries to help but finds the woman dead. When the caretaker arrives, he finds Frankie and thinks he's the killer.
- A woman asks Tony some legal advice, wants to know what happens if she would murder her husband. Some time later her husband is murdered and this woman is arrested on the scene. Could she be innocent?
- Tony's childhood friend Frankie Copa (now a professional boxer) needs a defense attorney after his manager is beaten to death and Frankie is found on the scene.
- Petrocelli defends a hippie motorcyclist charged with arson after a hotel goes up in flames. After the biker was denied a room, he was heard threatening the manager with burning down the hotel.

- When a woman is found dead in the desert, a young drifter who was the last seen with her is arrested cause his things were found with her. Petrocelli is assigned to defend him and the guy claims she picked him up and took him to a motel where he was with her but left as soon as he could and left his bag that had his things in it that were found with her body in her car. Petrocelli learns that the woman was the wife of a prominent businessman who saw other guys on the side. Which leads Petrocelli to think it could be her husband or one of her guys who killed her.
- Frank Donato is said to have murdered Anette James, the daughter of a powerful senator and only trust the Italian defense lawyer Tony Petrocelli.
- Paul asks his old friend Tony to make him a testament and an envelope addressed to Frank Keegan for storage. Later Paul dies in an explosion and Keegan also dies in an accident. Tony tries to find out who is responsible for his friend's death.
- Andy Warburton is kidnapped by two of his friends and Tony is asked to bring the ransom. It was all a joke, but as Tony arrives, he finds out that Andy is kidnapped again - this time for real.

- A young man hires a beautiful young nurse to live with and care for the man's elderly, wheelchair-bound grandfather. The nurse's "charm" hides a sadist who couldn't care less about her patient's welfare. The young man soon finds out that his grandfather is being shamefully neglected. One night, the nurse is found murdered, a hypodermic needle slammed into the base of her brain. It's clear that she was killed during an argument, and the grandson is the prime suspect. When the grandson asks Petrocelli to quiz his grandfather, Petrocelli learns that the grandfather died that same night of one of his numerous illnesses. When the case goes to trial, damning testimony is provided by an old rancher friend of the grandfather's who visited the house just after the murder and found both bodies. Petrocelli's only chance is to poke a hole in the testimony, based on a sixteen-minute gap where the rancher says he was reminiscing over his old friend -- or was he covering up evidence?
- After being accused of murder, suspect Adam North asks the victim's best friend, Petrocelli, to defend him.
