- Saverio Luparello is the manager of Sicilian baron Occipinti's estate. The cunning greedy man intentionally lets the land turn into a wasteland, hoping that his employer, discouraged by its low returns, will sell his earth to him for next to nothing. His plans are thwarted by a share cropper, Diego Costa, who farms his lot zealously and to good results. Luparello's three sons try to scare the Costas out of their farm but they are defended by Don Salvatore, the innkeeper and leader of the local Mafia. The next day, Andrea, the oldest son, indirectly causes the death of Diego and Wanda Costa. Don Salvatore has him eliminated and has Saro Costa, the honest share-farmers' ten-year-old son,sent to America. Fifteen years later, Saro, now a handsome well-built young man, is back...

- A French National Treasury van is assaulted and they steal the gold bullion it was carrying. According to confidences received by the Police Headquarters of Barcelona, it seems that part of the gold is clandestinely introduced into Spain through the Pyrenees. In order to discover and eradicate such smuggling infiltration, an agent pretends to be a day laborer at a farm located on the border and in a suspicious area.

The Roman Emperor of the West, Onorius, sends Olympius, consul of Rome, to negotiate Placidia's freedom. It comes down to a single duel between the courageous consul and Ataulf. Ataulf loses, and is honor bound to let Olympius free one of the women prisoners. The consul chooses Sabina, his lawful wife whom he had married for political reasons but for whom he had become in love. Galla Placidia, who longed for Olympius, is therefore forced to accept Ataulf for husband. Her gesture appeases the Visigoth's crave for revenge and the city of Ravenna is spared.

Yet, jealousy made them fall apart of each other, and eventually one brother died - so the other would survive and be happy with the woman they loved.

Hebe then agrees to marry Diaeus if he will spare the Roman's life but Caius Vinicius is soon freed by Callicrates and his allies, just as a Roman army arrives to battle Corinthian forces.
