- Betty Bronson's discovery reads like a Hollywood dream. As a New Jersey teenage bit-player, she was rocketed from obscurity when she was chosen to play the part of Peter Pan in 1924's Peter Pan (1924). She was hand-selected by author J.M. Barrie and beat several Hollywood superstars to the part, most notably Gloria Swanson and Mary Pickford. Pickford, though nearly 30, had built a career out of playing such parts, and faced the first serious threat to her status as "America's Sweetheart". Betty's beautifully expressive performance and unsophisticated looks earned her instant success. For the year following "Peter Pan"'s release, Bronson-mania easily equaled the sort of hysteria previously reserved only for Pickford.
Unfortunately, Bronson's studio seemed unsure of how to exploit this talent, which was wasted in small or unchallenging roles. "Peter Pan"'s 1925 follow-up, A Kiss for Cinderella (1925), seemed destined for the same success--but instead was a major flop. In only one year the public taste had changed so much as to render the sentimental entertainment of yesteryear obsolete. Had Bronson emerged ten years earlier she would have been a worthy competitor to Pickford; in 1925, audiences were suddenly more interested in the more adult charms of flappers such as Clara Bow and Colleen Moore. Betty, too, was re-launched as a flapper, sophisticate and occasional period dame. Her career was moderately successful but her superstardom had subsided. She sparkled and demonstrated an excellent voice in her first sound appearance (The Singing Fool (1928) with Al Jolson) but it became clear that her formidable skills as a pantomimist was wasted in the new form. She retired in 1933 to marry, and only appeared on-screen intermittently thereafter. - Bill Beckenstein was born on 11 July 1969 in Trenton, New Jersey, USA. Brian Delate was born in Trenton, New Jersey, but grew up mostly in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His father, Joseph, was a gifted tennis player and World War II veteran. His mother, Patricia, held a key position at Gallup and Robinson in Princeton, New Jersey. Delate was a below-average student for the most part, unless his passion was ignited by such things as sports, sailing, and tennis. After graduating from high school in 1967, he worked in a record store for a year before going into the army in 1968. He spent 1969 in Vietnam as a decorated non-commissioned officer. After addressing a long-time reading problem, he became an above-average student while attending Bucks County Community College, where he discovered theatre, then transferred to Rider University, where he received a BFA with a theatre track in directing and acting. He spent a good part of his senior year at Princeton's McCarter Theatre where he was selected to be a directing intern. He was also nominated for inclusion in the Who's Who of Colleges and Universities for 1975.
After college graduation, Delate moved to New York City and spent his first few years adapting, both professionally and personally, to the novelty and pace of the city. Delate's first professional acting work (and his very special association with the New York Shakespeare Festival) began in 1981, when he was cast in both of the plays performed in Central Park that summer - Henry IV, Part I and The Tempest. Other plays followed (including Joseph Papp's Hamlet with Diane Venora), and in 1984-1985, Delate received critical acclaim for his performance in the award-winning play, Tracers, which had successful runs in both New York (NYSF) and London (Royal Court). An abundance of daytime television and commercial work followed. In 1987, William Friedkin cast him in Python Wolf and not long after, David Jones cast him opposite Robert DeNiro and Ed Harris in Jacknife. Theatre, film and television opportunities all combined to help Delate thrive as an actor. He spent three seasons with the River Arts Repertory, and three seasons with Phoenix Theatre Company doing rotating repertory theatre, along with numerous theatre acting stints in and out of New York. One piece of trivia from that time was that Delate got to play the Humphrey Bogart role of Rick in the only sanctioned stage production of Casablanca permitted by Warner Brothers.
Delate has had the privilege to work with some of the most talented and creative directors and actors in the industry -- most recently in the acclaimed HBO Season 2 of The Comeback for Michael Patrick King. Brian did 5 episodes with its star Lisa Kudrow. Brave One (directed by Neil Jordan, with Jodie Foster), in Salome on Broadway, directed by Estelle Parsons and elsewhere and in the film, Salomaybe (both with Al Pacino), as well as in My Brother (directed by Anthony Lover), Buffalo Soldiers (directed by Gregor Jordan, with Ed Harris and Joaquin Phoenix), The Truman Show (directed by Peter Weir, with Jim Carrey and Laura Linney), American Wake and Home Before Dark (both directed by Maureen Foley, the latter with Katherine Ross), Sudden Death (directed by Peter Hyams), Far From Heaven (directed by Todd Haynes), Ash Wednesday (directed by Edward Burns), and The Shawshank Redemption (directed by Frank Darabont, with Tim Robbins).
Under the aegis of Liberty Studios, Delate has spent the last two years writing, directing and acting in, his first indie feature, Soldier's Heart (with James Kiberd and Cady McClain), which takes a promising look at the prolonged effects of PTSD caused by war, and the healing that's possible. Now near completion, Soldier's Heart will soon be making the rounds of the film festivals. Delate has also co-written the screenplays, Dante's Obsession and War Queen with Eric Pederson.
Delate resides in Los Angeles. His daughter Tirsa just graduated with honors from Bryn Mawr College.- Additional Crew

Carl Carabelli Jr. was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1979 to Carl Carabelli Sr. & Florence Carabelli. A life-long Trenton resident, he discovered his love of movies at an early age. He was fascinated by movies such as E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark & Star Wars. Carl attended St. Joachim grammar school in Trenton where he began to delve early into creative writing, writing and directing a play in the 4th grade as well as writing and drawing his own comic books which he would give out to his classmates. After St. Joachim, Carl enrolled in Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey where he was a varsity athlete and a member of the National Honor Society. He was also associated with the school newspaper where he wrote for the sports section and drew original comic strips. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1997 and went on to Seton Hall University where in 1998 he became a brother of the New Jersey Gamma Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, serving as Scholarship Chair, Educator and Pledge Master. While at Seton Hall he majored in English, hoping to continue a career as a writer after graduation. But, as Junior Year approached, he decided that he wasn't content with just writing, but wanted to direct as well. He switched his major to Communications with a concentration on film, video & television, becoming certified in TV & Video production in addition to writing & directing several short films as well as working as cameraman on several video productions. After graduation in 2001, Carl decided to go back to Seton Hall because the change in major had not afforded him the time to take one last class, Creative Filmmaking. He enrolled as a non-matriculated student where he began production on "Changing Faces" in the Fall of 2001. A short black and white psychological thriller, Carl called on the services of Russ Russo, an actor who had worked with him in the past, his friends Jeff Pierro and Pete Albietz (who had worked on almost all of his student films), Director of Photography Jason Yanuzzi, and actress Amy Renee Herring to complete the film. After production was complete, on Russ' recommendation, Carl submitted a rough cut of the film to The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. The cut was accepted and the completed film premiered at the festival's Las Vegas program at The Palms Casino in 2002. It went on to play in Los Angeles in July of 2002 & New York in September 2002, to a very positive response. Carl currently resides in Hamilton, New Jersey where he continues writing and working on various film and television projects.- Actor

Christopher Zara is a New York City-based author and journalist who writes about business, tech, media, culture, and theater. He is a senior editor at Fast Company magazine, where he runs the news desk. Before that, he was a deputy editor at International Business Times, a theater critic for Newsweek, and managing editor for the performing arts newspaper Show Business Weekly.
Zara grew up in Trenton, New Jersey, and started writing for community theater in Orlando, Florida, in the 1990s. He later turned to journalism and relocated to New York City. His movie credits as writer include the feature documentary Average Community, which chronicles the local punk-rock scene of 1980s New Jersey. The movie took home the Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary from the 2009 CMJ Film Festival.
Zara's first book, Tortured Artists, was published in 2012 by Adams Media (now an imprint of Simon & Schuster) and is described as a loving but irreverent examination of the relationship between creativity and pain. It includes short profiles of famous artists, musicians, writers, and poets, highlighting stories about how their work was fueled by struggle and conflict.
Zara's debut memoir, Uneducated (Little, Brown and Company, 2023), is a personal exploration of the diploma divide that explores the value of college and confronts the stigma of being degreeless in a 21st-century knowledge economy. The book documents Zara's struggles as a student with behavioral difficulties in the New Jersey public school system and later his efforts to assimilate as a high school dropout in the pedigree-obsessed world of New York media.- Actor
