Amin De Jesus was born into a family of artists: his father an innovative photographer, his mother an ingenious crafts woman, his sister an astute poet/painter/architect, and his brother a genre-defying producer/engineer who reached great success by his early 20's. Being surrounded by such unbound creativity so early in his life instilled values that emphasized living a creative mantra. This is the environment in which Amin was able to defy the all too common fear of failure and tune his mind as his instrument for expression.
Even at a young age Amin's creative endeavors were well received. By age 12 he was interning for the Miami Herald's Editorial Art Department. Simultaneously he began his, less official, courtship of hip-hop culture as a dilettante MC. He developed his talent through schoolyard battles in Miami all the way to the playful bodega ciphers of Jamaica, Queens. In the following years the design internship became a part-time job, and his enchantment with lyricism became a love affair that both evolved and consumed him. He quickly became accustomed to living a double life. By day Amin was a young designer attending a myriad of art programs at magnet schools; by night, he was a wandering wordsmith enticing crowds and opponents alike with what was often referred to as a "machine-like flow." However what began as fun with friends soon became a predatory thirst. As he encroached the battle scene he would encircle congregations of rappers, like a shark trawling for prawn. Soon he started pushing his craft to the next level of creative writing and eventually recorded several collaborative efforts with projects such as Children of the Well, Demented Righters, DoubleCross Ent., Idee4, Common Ground, Players Dynasty, SoundVision, the GBC and many others.
Upon graduating from South Miami Senior High (a mere 3 blocks from the hospital he was born in), Amin's visual portfolio had matured receiving accolades and recognition even at the national level. Among the awards was a Silver Key from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers (Scholastic Art & Writing Awards) that allowed him to attend the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. This celebrated return to the big city was soon thwarted by the very ambition that made it possible though. Amin began designing for Urban Latino Magazine, Sol Concepts, HOLA records, Johnny Blaze and became inundated by an amassing amalgam of freelance projects that engulfed him and eventually lead to dropping out and returning to Miami.
Years later, and the duality of Amin's life has reached a fragile yet resolute balance. Now an Art Director, he has contributed to the visual identity of brands such as Chrysler, Nike, Microsoft, Corona, Coke Zero, Volkswagen, Best Buy & Geek Squad while designing at big firms like CP+B, Sapient Publicis, La Comunidad, Republika, and The Martin Agency. Musically, his attentions have been fixated on his band Suénalo, who recently celebrated their fifteen year anniversary. The band mixes an intoxicating cocktail of sounds and rhythms inspired by South Florida's unique Latin-based diversity. Amin has showcased his musical talents across the county at events such as SXSW and even back in the Big Apple for the Latin Alternative Music Conference. Focused on his philanthropic effort (Guitars Over Guns, founded by his best friend Dr. Chad Bernstein) Amin is sharing his love of music by mentoring inner city youth in schools that aren't able to provide musical education at the novice level including his old Alma mater North Miami Middle School. Currently living in Los Angeles and working on the expanding the program to a bi-coastal/national operation, whilst making music, Amin continues learning. He is a student of his students, always working on evolving and sharpening his instrument.- Amira Lumbly is an American actress born to a Jamaican-American mother who is a professional singer and teacher and an American father who was a boxer and computer programmer in Miami, FL. While in high school in Minneapolis, MN, she joined and/or studied with local theatre companies such as Heart of the Beast Theatre, Jeune Lune and The Guthrie Theatre, eventually signing with a local modeling and talent agency to book gigs. After graduation, Amira moved to Orange, CA to attend Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. To gain a holistic perspective of the entertainment industry, she worked at several high profile management and production companies in Los Angeles.
After graduating with honors, Amira has dedicated herself to developing her craft and career as an actor in Los Angeles, CA. She has studied and coached at Howard Fine Studios, John Ruskin School of Acting, Playhouse West, Upright Citizen's Brigade and studied the teachings of Eric Morris.
