Tom Burke has been making film and video projects of varying scales and styles for over a decade. Working primarily in the documentary form, he frequently assumes a shooting director role, and more often than not will be the editor of his own films. He has been able to mix factual television projects with more aesthetically driven Screen Ireland funded feature documentaries and shorts in recent years. Regardless of format or output medium, the goal is always the same; telling great stories to the highest narrative and visual standards, and always with respect for those in front of the lens.
His projects often mix local and global concerns - large stories told in microcosm. This has given him experience of shooting in over thirty countries in a variety of conditions. He brings an array of skills to bear on working within small communities, collaborating with his subjects to ensure that the films which emerge portray a reality that they can recognise. Tom is a member of Screen Producers Ireland and The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland.- Tom Burke was born on 2 March 1890 in Lancashire, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Kathleen (1937), Clay Dollars (1921) and Little Miss Molly (1938). He was married to Pauline S. Dixon and Marie Burke. He died on 13 September 1969 in Carshalton, Surrey, England, UK.
