Robert King is a NYC-based writer/actor. He has had numerous scripts produced, including his award-winning solo show Halfrican-American, and his first film, which was produced by Four Times Films. He was a senior writer/performer for Lorne Michaels' Above Average, where he created and hosted the popular web series Your Biggest Fan where he worked with celebrities like Jane Lynch, Alan Alda, and Russell Brand. Robert has created various web-series, and scripts of his have been finalists in the Austin Film Fest, and both the New York and Hollywood Screenplay Contests. He was also a recipient of NBC's Diversity Award for writing and performing. As an actor Robert recently performed in Billy Crystal's stage show, Have A Nice Day, alongside Kevin Kline, Annette Benning, and others. Robert has also worked on various television shows from Law & Order: SVU to The Blacklist, and films such as Don't Think Twice with Mike Birbiglia and Can You Keep A Secret opposite Alexandria Daddario.- Director

As an orchestrator, Louis Robert King has created the musical colors you hear in the iconic Columbia Pictures Logo, as well as scores for Disney's "The Little Mermaid II," and Rob Marshall's adaptation of the Broadway classic "Annie." In 2022 he collaborated with record industry icon Terry Ellis's Chrysalis Rock Orchestra, creating orchestral interpretations of Rock and Roll Classics.
His score for "Like Daughter Like Mother" received the 2020 Award of Merit from the Accolade Global Film Competition, he also won a British Web Award in the Best Music category for his score from "FabUless," a sitcom about three struggling actors making ends meet as brand ambassadors. Other accomplishments as a composer include "The Albatross," which was nominated for Best Animated Short at Australia's Cinema and Television Awards, he also provided additional music for the Sundance Jury Award nominee "Billy's Dad Is A..." His distinctive score for the sci-fi sitcom "Extra/Ordinary," the story of three roommates, each with a superpower that is more of a burden than a gift to humanity, can be heard on SeekaTV. The films "Anne", "Overdue", "Aaron with 2 A's", "Nothing Will Ever Be The Same", "Trip Upstate", and "The Interrogation" are all in their festival run, featuring his scores. King recently completed scoring the female assassin drama "Ms. Pink", the horror/thriller "Red Coats", and the drama "Blood Is Thicker".
King's involvement in the music world also includes creating arrangements for Janelle Monae's performance at Ralph Lauren's 2019 fashion event and Evan Rachel Wood's appearance at the LACMA Art + Film Gala. He also produced string arrangements for such artists as Kelly Finnigan, Monophonics, The Sentiments, Alanna Royale, and The Sextones. "Changing Light" - An album of cinematic psychedelic soul instrumentals, co-written with Bay area band "The Ironsides", is available on vinyl via Colemine Records and on streaming services everywhere.- Robert King is best known as the front man for 80s Post Punk band 'Scars'. He then went solo releasing the single 'Paper Heart', before disappearing into seclusion with Nico (Velvet Underground). He reformed Scars for a one off concert at the HMV Picture House in Edinburgh in 2010 and in 2012 signed a record deal with his new band called 'Opium Kitchen' which includes Jo Callis (Human League) In 2014 Robert King will be releasing his new album with Opium Kitchen and appearing in a movie called 'A New York Story'.

Robert J. King began his career working in the mail room at Paramount Studios. After working several years with Dick Clark Productions, he continued to produce short films and music videos. He optioned several books by Jim Lehrer, but after aggressively pitching those projects they stalled. Robert was the producer who optioned the life rights of Portland, Oregon's door-to-door salesman Bill Porter. Along with Forest Whitaker, Robert was Co-Executive Producer of TNT's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning movie Door to Door which starred William H. Macy, Helen Mirren and Kyra Sedgwick.
He has won an Emmy, a Peabody, AFI's Top 10 Television Program Award, a Broadcast Critics Choice Award, a Golden Satellite, a Christopher Award, and the Catholics in Media Board of Directors Award, as well as being a nominee for a Humanitas Award and Television Critics Association Award.
He is an accomplished trumpet player who has performed at The Hollywood Bowl and The Lincoln Center, and who has played with Maynard Ferguson's band as well as playing backing up for Jack Black.- A native of Bath, England, Robert King has explored his passion for film throughout both Europe and North America. Known for being both insightful and disturbing, King's films draw on his philosophical training as well as his experiences working with the marginalized.
