Peter Graves was born Peter Duesler Aurness on March 18, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While growing up in Minnesota, he excelled at sports and music (as a saxophonist), and by age 16, he was a radio announcer at WMIN in Minneapolis. After two years in the United States Army Air Force, he studied drama at the University of Minnesota and then headed to Hollywood, where he first appeared on television and later made his film debut in Rogue River (1951). Numerous film appearances followed, especially in Westerns. However, Graves is primarily recognized for his television work, particularly as Jim Phelps in Mission: Impossible (1966). Peter Graves died of a heart attack on March 14, 2010, just four days before his 84th birthday.- Actor

English actor Peter George Wellesley Graves, a member of the British hereditary peerage as the eighth Baron Graves, was born on October 21, 1911 in London. His great-great-great-grandfather was Admiral Thomas Graves, who was made a peerage from Ireland as the first Baron Graves.
Educated at Harrow, Graves became an actor and established his reputation as a light comedian and for his roles in musicals. On film, he career reached its apogee during World War II. In his 50s, he became a supporting player in comic roles, including Alfie (1966), The Wrong Box (1966) and The Magic Christian (1969). He continued to act into his 80s, primarily on TV. As a Producer, Graves has credits on 16 films totaling $600 million in worldwide gross. Titles include Oliver Stone's W., Terminator Salvation, Killer Elite and Planet 51.
As C-level Executive or Senior Advisor/Marketing Consultant, Graves has played a guiding role in the marketing and release of over 200 films which have accounted for 60 Academy Award nominations and 15 Academy Awards while registering multi-billion dollars in worldwide grosses. Titles include Love & Mercy; Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines; Braveheart; The Perfect Storm; Defiance; The Producers; The Bank Job; Fargo; Dead Man Walking; Maverick; The Messenger; The Game; Resident Evil; Bean; Four Weddings and a Funeral; The Usual Suspects and Love, Actually.
Working in both the domestic and international markets, Graves brings an unparalleled long-term producer; C-level executive, marketing and distribution perspective and insight to each film's entire production process, from initial concept, script writing, financing, casting and production through to its ultimate worldwide release in all media.
Graves also has a strong financial, managerial, and general entertainment business background, having served as Corporate Vice President at MGM/UA, Executive Vice President at Nelson Entertainment and Executive Director of Investor Relations at Warner Communications in addition to his President post at PolyGram Films (the marketing and distribution arm of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment).
Graves has been a guest lecturer on film marketing at USC, UCLA, Chapman University, Loyola Marymount University and Boston University and a panelist at numerous industry events.
