- William Freeman was a little known American character actor, who failed to gain the fame which public interest would tend to suggest he deserved. Tall, dark and handsome; he began acting in the early 1900s, in comedy and drama theatre. Later, he began appearing in D.W. Griffith drama and action films. In 1915 he appeared in the Majestic Film Company's Minerva's Mission (1915) with Dorothy Gish . Because his roles were so small; it's not known how many movies he actually appeared in. William is perhaps best remembered as the boarder in the 1918 Famous Players-Lasky comedy/drama Mirandy Smiles (1918) which was directed by William C. de Mille and starred Vivian Martin.
