Borislav Punchev was a Bulgarian cinematographer, and director. Borislav Punchev has sometimes been credited as Puncheto. Borislav Punchev was born on Wednesday, October 31st, 1928, in Mezdra, Bulgaria. He graduated in Lodz, Poland as cinematographer (1956). At the 3rd National Bulgarian festival in 1963 1st prize and Golden Rose for Best Short Film went to the documentary Rails in the Sky, director Eduard Zakhariev, cinematography Borislav Punchev. 1966 - 5th Bulgarian Film Festival: Golden Rose for Best feature film to Tsar and General, director Vulo Radev, script Luben Stanev, cinematography Borislav Punchev. 1967 - 6th Bulgarian Film Festival Main prize Golden Rose for Best feature film to the film The Longest Night, director Vulo Radev, script Veselin Branev, cinematography Borislav Punchev. The 1986 film Eshalonite (Transports of Death) directed by Borislav Punchev was a docudrama about the survival of the Jews. Borislav Punchev was a professor at National Academy of Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria. He died on Friday, August 28th, 1998 at the age of sixty-nine (69) in Sofia, Bulgaria.- Director
