Randy McDowell is an actor, comedian, and producer whose breakout role came as Gene Smith in the Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe award-winning miniseries Elvis. The series, which was part of CBS/Showtime's largest marketing campaign at the time, reached over 30 million viewers.
McDowell's film credits include notable appearances in the blockbuster indie hit I Can Only Imagine, ranked as the #3 music biopic of all time and the #6 faith-based film in history, as well as the comedy Mom's Night Out. He also starred in Sam Raimi's Ghosthouse Underground feature Dance of the Dead (Lionsgate), which gained international acclaim and won numerous awards.
On television, McDowell has been featured in popular shows such as The Tonight Show, Justified, and David Spade's hidden camera prank show Fameless. He also starred for six seasons as Sven Kruger in the American sitcom parody Two Unvergleichliche Familien, a major German campaign for Check24 seen by hundreds of millions of Europeans during its run.
As a brand ambassador, McDowell has starred in over 100 commercials, serving as a spokesperson for major national brands. Notably, he portrayed Phil in the FedEx commercial Moon Office, ranked as one of the top Super Bowl commercials of all time and viewed by over 95 million people worldwide.
Beyond his on-screen work, McDowell toured for eight years with comedian Dale Williams as part of the comedy duo N2O. Together, they performed across the U.S., Europe, and on television, blending sketch comedy with short films in a multimedia showcase.
McDowell also made his mark as a festival founder and director. He led The DiXiE FiLM FeSTiVaL in Atlanta, Georgia, for a decade, turning it into a globally recognized premier film festival. The festival welcomed Emmy Award-winning directors, Oscar-nominated films, and honored screen legends such as Brian Dennehy, James Best, and Andy Griffith with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. He later founded and executive directed the Prince Edward Island International Film Festival in Charlottetown, Canada, a Gemini-qualifying festival at the time, further expanding his influence in the film festival circuit.
In addition to his festival work, McDowell founded 77 Entertainment, a production company focusing on feature film development and production.
