Composer, conductor and teacher, educated at the Royal Franz Liszt Academy of Music and the University of Budapest, he conducted the Royal Opera House orchestra in Budapest in 1912, and also conducted in Berlin, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Paris. He came to the USA in 1923 and conducted light opera in New York and on tours, later working under contract to several Hollywood film studios as a general music director. In addition, he joined ASCAP in 1953 and conducted the Baccaloni Opera Company, taught music theory, and was an opera coach.- Magda Schwingerová was born on 5 March 1915 in Nemsó, Trencsen, Austria-Hungary [now Nemsová, Slovakia]. She was an actress, known for Adam a Eva (1940), Dialogue 20-40-60 (1968) and Stvorylka (1955). She died on 11 November 1993 in Zilina, Slovakia.
