Theodore Hurt Huckabee (Ted) was born the second child of Patricia Emily Sherer Sims, an artist and school teacher. His father divorced his mother when Ted was 4, and has had no contact with him since then. Ted, his sister and mother moved to Atlanta, Georgia. where his mom supported the family as a single mother.
The acting bug started early as Ted appeared in many public school plays and several commercials by cold-calling the set. With no agent or representation, Ted appeared in a national treasury drug ad and a Weather Channel ad as a child. He later auditioned and was accepted to the Northside High School of the Performing Arts. Ted gave up acting to pursue college football, where he played JUCO for one year at Georgia Military College.
After the untimely and unexpected death of his sister, Ted quit his sales job and became an actor full-time in Atlanta. Georgia. Cold-calling a set again produced one of Ted's first roles--the WB hit Savannah. Ted is married with two daughters. He credits most of his success to his wife, who has been the steady realist in the relationship compared to his dreamer.
