Studying each scene to determine the best perspectives that will not only capture the action but also convey the underlying emotions and themes, bringing a fresh and dynamic perspective to the story, and ensuring that every shot contributes meaningfully to the overall narrative. Another of his favorite tools in cinematography is light, which he uses to craft mood and atmosphere effectively.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jan enjoys a range of hobbies that reflect his adventurous spirit and creative eye. Jan Eelen (°1970) is one of Belgium's finest, most diverse directors and writers of fiction. Although each of his productions is radically different from the last, he always manages to find a large audience. He has influenced a whole generation of filmmakers, as many of his characters and dialogue lines have become the subject of memes in Flanders.
Consistent in his work is Eelen's mastery of character, rhythm and surprise. He refuses to play along with the expectations of the viewer, or even his characters. His fiction would be misanthropic, if it wasn't so humane.
Apart from his television work, Eelen has adapted the Yasmina Reza play Carnage for the theater in 2012.- Writer
