Brad's first cave experience was when he was a high student and visited Raccoon Mountain Caverns in Chattanooga, TN. It wasn't until nearly 7 years later that Brad again ventured underground, this time not in a commercial cave, but a natural cave. Since that time, Brad has visited hundreds of caves across the Southeastern United States including both vertical and horizontal caves. With a Master's Degree in education, Brad enjoyed showing new cavers the diversity of life that can be found in caves as well as the beauty of the underground world. Brad's students have often referred to him as "bat" man because of his interest in the flying mammal.
In January 2011, Brad had a freak accident at a cave near Scottsboro, AL. He fell 160' and broke his back. However, this has not stopped him from caving and he continues to cave to this day.
Brad given back to the caving community through a variety of caving organizations such as the SKTF (SERA Karst Task Force), Clock Tower Grotto, Georgia Speleological Society, and Southeastern Cave Conservancy. The SCCI is dedicated to protecting the natural underground environments and preserving them for our future generations and Brad proudly helps support their mission.
