For anyone whose idea of a proper sentence is "Dude!", or "Like.. you know!!", this movie will be the same as a foreign language film and they will absolutely hate it. For this reason, P&P will never be wildly popular in North America even though it deserves to be. But forget them. I've been married for almost 10 years now, and had been a reluctant audience to many a "chickflicks", so I'm a semi hostile authority on this genre. For me though, this is the BEST chickflick I have ever seen! Everybody's performance is so good as if their lives depended on it. Keira Knightley is absolutely gorgeous. Angelina who? I would watch it again just to see Keira. Hey, if my wife would watch every Brad Pitt movie, why can't I? The film brings the era to life, and if you allow yourself to be, you would be absorbed into the times. The language shows that English can be just as elegant as French, and it's sad to see it evolve into the sad state it is today. Hopefully, this review would convince the guys out there to go see this. I would suggest watch it once on DVD without subtitles, then watch it a second time with subtitles to make sure you didn't miss anything. OK, watch it a third time just to see Keira.
