Starring in The Wild Robot was the best kind of collaborative movie experience for Lupita Nyong'o.

"This film is the most fruitful, I would say, of my work in voice acting," Lupita Nyong'o told IndieWire about playing The Wild Robot's titular Rozzum Unit and the scope of her involvement in Roz's story. "I had a larger role to play and so I had a full arc, and because it is the titular role, figuring out that arc really does unlock all the other characters," she said, adding, "That greater responsibility led to more creative input. The collaboration was special. I really didn’t want to sign onto this project if it was going to render me as just an executor of a voice."
