Ariana Grande released her fourth studio album “Sweetener” on August 17, and it came as no surprise that it debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200 albums chart. But while her singles got a boost on the Hot 100, she still couldn’t hurt Drake‘s “Feelings.” Drake is now just a couple of weeks away from making history.
“Sweetener” bowed with 231,000 equivalent album units, which are calculated by combining traditional album sales with individual track sales and online streams. This was Grande’s third chart-topper, following “Yours Truly” (2013) and “My Everything” (2014). Her only album to miss the top spot was her third, “Dangerous Woman,” which had to settle for a second-place finish in 2016 behind Drake’s “Views.” So it’s a bit of deja vu to see the two artists battling for chart dominance yet again.
