The International Documentary Association has announced recipients of this year’s honorary prizes for the 2015 Ida Documentary Awards.
Gordon Quinn, the Founder and Artistic Director of Kartemquin Films, will receive the 2015 Career Achievement Award. This prize is given to a filmmaker who has made an impact on the documentary genre through their body of work. Quinn was the executive producer of one of this year’s documentary short subject contenders, “On Beauty.”
The Pioneer Award will be presented to Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, recognizing the streaming company’s unwavering support of creating and showcasing nonfiction programming. The award also acknowledges contributions to the nonfiction form and offering vision and leadership to the documentary community.
Tony Tabatznik and the Bertha Foundation will receive the Amicus Award for their work supporting the needs of the nonfiction media landscape. The Amicus Award acknowledges friends of the documentary community that have offered significant contributions.
