The Erich Pommer Institut (Epi) in association with MediaXchange presents the European TV Drama Series Lab (TV Lab) for its third edition starting yesterday in Berlin. The nominated participants – top writers, producers and broadcasters from across Europe – will get valuable insights into the latest trends and up-to-date success stories of the TV series industry by internationally acclaimed TV experts.
The Erich Pommer Institut and MediaXchange designed and established the European TV Drama Series Lab to become one of the major international TV training programs, which hit the nerve of the industry. It annually generates new potential and ideas. No wonder, the line-up of confirmed speakers for July 2014 consists of a range of renowned TV experts who are willing to share their experiences and expertise: Glen Mazzara, Executive Producer "The Walking Dead,""Hawthorne"and "The Shield," U.S.; Nicolas Brown, Director, Film & TV - Neal Street Productions (formerly Director, UK Drama Production BBC); Peter Nadermann, Executive Producer "The Bridge" I, II, III, "The Team", CEO, NadCon-Film GmbH, Germany; Zak Shaikh, Head of U.S Consultancy, Attentional, U.S; Jean Philippe De Tender, Director Television, Vrt, Belgium.
Already in prior years, top industry players were part of the TV Lab. Some of the figures : Piv Bernth ("Borgen") Denmark; Anne Bjørnstad ("Lilyhammer"), Norway; Carol Flint ( "The West Wing","ER".), USA; James Manos Jr. ("Dexter", "The Sopranos"); U.S, Simon Mirren ("Criminal Minds", "Without a Trace"), U.K/Us; Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files,), U.S/U.K.
The TV Lab is aimed at screenwriters, producers and commissioning editors and examines the components that are essential for a successful TV series. Think Tanks provide the participants with the opportunity to apply their gained knowledge to the European market. Brand new European case studies will pave the way to innovative and successful series formats. Moreover, the participants will profit from an excellent networking opportunity – an essential factor for success. The program is supported by the Media 2007 Program of the EU and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
An Open Session will be held on July 3, 2014 for the local industry and reporting journalists and is organized in co-operation with the Creative Europe Desk Berlin-Brandenburg and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
