The William Morris Endeavor chief and his wife Sarah today filed a complaint against Mark Freeman and Jill Freeman for the hundreds of thousands of dollars they invested and loaned the two upscale West La clothiers. Alleging Fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, conversion, accounting and unlawful and unfair competition, the Emanuels are seeking a jury trial in their 22-page suit (read it here). They are also seeking restitution and disgorgement of illegal revenues and profits, compensatory damages in an amount to be proven at trial, legal fees and “punitive damages in an amount sufficient to punish Defendants and deter Defendants and others from engaging in similar conduct.” The Freemans, owners of the Jill Roberts stores, convinced the Emanuels in the spring of 2010 to invest and to become partners in the high-end Seaton clothing store they were going to open on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.
