Comic-Con used to be a comic, sci-fi and fan convention, but nowadays the annual affair has become so mainstream that every high-concept horror, science fiction and thriller feature -- no matter its comic or cult roots -- gets big play in San Diego. So it's refreshing when there's an announcement at Comic-Con about a an actual graphic novel (albeit an online one) being turned into a film. That would be 'Last Blood,' written by Bobby Crosby and illustrated by Owen Gieni, which takes place after a zombie apocalypse when vampires must protect the last surviving humans so they can live off their blood. The live-action film will be directed by Simon Hunter, who helmed 'Mutant Chronicles,' an actioner that stars Thomas Jane, John Malkovich, Ron Perlman and Devon Aoki. [Deadline]
