A Barstow native, Kris Watson has been in the pageant industry for over 30 years.
It's been under her direction that the Barstow Pageant has won National acclaim
as the "Best Local Pageant" for Five consecutive years. This award was
presented by the International Pageant Association, where she has also served on
their ethics committee. Kris has established a working relationship with fellow
directors operating within the State of California and Internationally and it is
through her connections that Barstow girls have had the opportunity to represent
the United States for International competitions throughout the world. Miss
Barstow's have gone on to win California State titles, National titles and
International titles in Turkey, Japan and for three years in Mazatlan, Mexico. Kris
produces & directs two additional pageants as well, "Miss Citrus Valley" for young
ladies residing in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles Counties,
who want to go on to a major state pageant of their choice and "National Miss
Route 66" for anyone who has ever traveled along Route 66. Proceeds from this
pageant help support the local Route 66 Mother Road Museum.
Kris has been acknowledged locally as Barstow's Woman of the year in 1986, and a special Ambassador of Goodwill award was presented to the Pageant in 1998. On the State level, she held the title of Ms. California Achievement 1998, at the same time being awarded the National Humanitarian award. She then went on to win the National title of MS. U.S. Achievement Ambassador 1999. Her most recent California State title with "Beauties of America" was won in 2002. Internationally, Kris has been recognized by being published in the year 2000, International Who's Who of Professional & Business Woman's, Seventh Edition, and was appointed to their Advisory Board. She was recently informed of her inclusion into the 2010 Business and Profession Women's Publication.
Kris is a graduate of Long Beach City College with a degree in Dance and Performing Arts and carries a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree from Ashwood University out of Humble, Texas in Marketing Management. Besides running her own business, she is employed as a Para Educator for Silver Valley Unified School District. She has coached and trained numerous contestants, three of which have gone on to win California USA titles. In 2009 she became the recipient of the Star Recruiter award for the Miss California USA pageant.
