- Additional Crew
Born in 1994, Francisco Catao Caldeira Pires is a seasoned animator, animation director, and supervisor with a globetrotting career. Hailing from Brazil, he embarked on his creative journey at16 years old. His path led him to Sydney, Australia, where he twice enriched the gaming industry as an animation lead. Vancouver, Canada, welcomed him next, where his animation prowess graced TV shows and advertising projects working for different companies such as ICON. Even from Brazil, he remotely collaborated with big names like Mikros Animation, Brazen Animation, and HBO (via Awesome and Modest Studio), and other projects done by Little Zoo studio, leaving his mark as a senior animator.
Catao's international exploits kindled a passion for storytelling, ignited by cultural diversity. With an expansive career spanning more than 8 years, he realized that, much like his peripatetic journey, animation should not be confined to one technique. From 2D cutout to 3D and hand-drawn, the crux lies in the story and the connections it forges. For Francisco, animation isn't just about the "how"; it's about the journey itself, and that is the biggest lesson, he believes, animation has to offer.
