Patrice Escoto was born in Montclair, New Jersey and studied film and TV at Indiana State University. In 2023, her short film, The Advocate, was chosen as an Official Selection in the San Diego Black Film Festival, Visions of the Black Experience Film Festival and the Hollywood South Urban Film Festival.
Investigating the psychological motives behind a person's actions is the catalyst for her writings. Translating these motives into intense thrillers is showcased in her screenplays, The Bronze Queen, a feature chosen as both a finalist in the 2020 Diverse Voices Spring Competition and a Semifinalist in The Writer's Lab 2021 competition and Utopia, 2054 which was chosen as a semi-finalist in the Big Apple Screenplay Competition , The Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards, and The Atlanta Screenplay Competition. Patrice focuses her storytelling on strong female protagonists as they fight for social, economic and environmental justice.
