Paramount Network’s Yellowstone season five part two trailer opens with John Dutton (Kevin Costner) discussing the family’s legacy. “We build something worth having, someone’s going to try and take it,” says John. Kayce declares his actions are for his family, not the ranch, before donning a hoodie and looking as if he’s about to whip out a gun while hurrying down a street.
The 40-second teaser includes a snippet of an FBI raid, Jamie warning someone (most likely Beth) that if they destroy him, they’ll destroy themselves. The season 5 part two video ends with Beth on the phone: “Unlike you, I keep my promises.”
Paramount Network also unveiled a new poster ahead of the Yellowstone Labor Day marathon. Both the trailer and poster follow on the heels of the release of the first five photos from part two.

The clip then moves to Cole Hauser’s Rip: “What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us,” he says, as the clip quickly shifts to what appears to be Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton pulling out a knife, We also see shots of FBI agents launching a raid and tense conversations between Beth and Jamie.

Hold onto your cowboy hats, because the Dutton siblings are ready to hog the spotlight once again as the second half of Yellowstone Season 5 gears up for its much-anticipated return in November. But you might notice there’s something fishy—or rather, someone missing—Kevin Costner’s rugged patriarch, John Dutton, is nowhere to be seen in the latest snaps. Why?

However, Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind the show, is feeling the heat. Fans are letting him know they’re not exactly showering him with praise. The final season’s teaser suggests that Costner’s character might be facing some seriously rough terrain after his dramatic exit.

On June 20, 2018, Paramount Network aired the first episode of a neo-Western drama television series called Yellowstone – and a megahit franchise was born. Lately, news regarding the franchise has been focused on what’s coming further down the line. We’ve been hearing casting announcements about the spin-off series The Madison and 1923, and we’ve heard that the flagship show, which was said to be ending with “season 5, part 2,” might continue with a sixth season after all… but before we get there, we still need to see Yellowstone season 5, part 2, which has a premiere date of Sunday, November 10th at 8pm Et/Pt. With that date still a couple months away, a batch of first look images, and a very quick teaser (which still features A Lot of Kevin Costner) from the new episodes have arrived online. You can see the images at the bottom of this article.

The Dutton family faces constant challenges from those at its borders — the growing Bozeman, Montana, the fictional Indian reservation of Broken Rock and America’s first national park.

We first started this trip with everything we know about Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 in the middle of 2023.
While we finally have a premiere date, news about spinoffs and what happens next constantly fluctuates.
Let’s take a look at what we know so far.

Has Yellowstone Been Renewed?
Yellowstone has not been renewed. But it might not be canceled, either.
The unknown world we’re in now was the result of behind-the-scenes drama between series creator Taylor Sheridan and Dutton patriarch Kevin Costner.
Initially, it was alleged that Kevin Costner didn’t want to commit to filming six more episodes, with reports claiming he gave a small window of availability.
The actor’s representatives shut down those claims, claiming Sheridan hadn’t completed scripts, pushing filming beyond reason. It was then revealed that the series would end following Yellowstone Season 5.

Yellowstone revealed the first photos from its long-awaited back half of season five.
The images include shots of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), Wes Bentley (Jaime Dutton) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham).
Notably absent, of course, is the show’s former star Kevin Costner, who played patriarch John Dutton, and excited the show after the show’s fifth season hiatus partly to focus on his Horizon film saga. Costner is still contractually an executive producer on the show, however.
“I gave this thing five seasons,” Costner explained to Hollywood Reporter when he confirmed he wasn’t coming back. “I was really happy to do it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to...

In 2018, Yellowstone premiered on the Paramount Network, introducing us to the Dutton family, led by Kevin Costner’s John, and the land they’d fight to protect. The drama is now in its fifth and final season and is part of a much larger universe from Taylor Sheridan. In 2021, Paramount+ released a prequel, 1883, chronicling the origin story of John’s great-grandfather (Tim McGraw) and his family. That was just the beginning, with other prequels tracking David Oyelowo’s lawman Bass Reeves and another origin story starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford And even with Yellowstone ending (without Kevin Costner), there’s more to come in the present. As Beth Dutton once said, “I made two bad decisions in my life based on fear, and they cost me everything”, but viewers have probably seen many more.
Indeed, Beth, portrayed by the fiery Kelly Reilly, shows no signs of losing her charge on Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western drama series Yellowstone. Since its creation first appeared on Paramount Network in 2018, we have followed the ups and downs of the unpredictable lives of the Dutton family.
Nonetheless, one must ask: Has the moment arrived when Sheridan will no longer be able to protect the volatile Beth from the growing chorus of fans who label her as “obnoxious”?

In the rugged world of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, where familial loyalty collides with ruthless ambition and territorial disputes, not every character is created equal. Some have more screen time, and others have compelling character arcs. But one character that seemingly missed the biggest opportunity appears to be Kayce Dutton.
Taylor Sheridan in a still from Yellowstone | Paramount Network
Portrayed by Luke Grimes, Kayce is often seen as the lone Dutton family member worth rooting for amid the chaos orchestrated by his father, John Dutton and siblings. However, despite his character’s potential, Taylor Sheridan’s writing occasionally failed to fully utilize Kayce’s arc, leaving fans questioning whether justice is truly served to this pivotal figure.
Kayce Dutton’s Narrative Arc is Packed with Complexities
Focused primarily on Kevin Costner’s John Dutton and his children, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone flawlessly navigated through tumultuous family dynamics and competitive landscapes.

As much as Taylor Sheridan’s smash-hit Yellowstone has succeeded in leaving people totally entertained to the core, it has somehow also managed to leave some glaring plotholes behind. For instance, the very first season of this fan-favorite saga brought about something truly bizarre that was never properly explained: Dinosaur bones getting unearthed from near Kayce and Tate’s trailer.

While this part had fans truly intrigued about the storyline these fossils could lead to, what’s surprising is that it never did. This plot was just dropped and fans were left wondering about it for years. But now that the saga is nearing its end with season 5 part 2, it seems like this could be the perfect plot Sheridan could use to close off the Dutton family lore, once and for all, for the better.

Yellowstone is the sweeping landscape of the Dutton family ranch, which is often eclipsed by the actions of its larger-than-life characters & the intense (behind-the-scenes) drama that unfolds. But amid the relentless tension and tough exterior of ranch life, isn’t it the quieter scenes that often spark the most fiery discussions among fans?
Of course, there was one such moment—a bathroom dialogue between Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and her son Tate (Brecken Merrill)—that perhaps even Taylor Sheridan couldn’t defend. This event from season 4 stands out not for its explosive action, but for its controversial subtlety.

The drama of Yellowstone, which chronicles one family’s struggle to preserve their legacy—a ranch in the heart of Paradise Valley, Montana—has enraptured viewers for years. Over the course of the previous five seasons, the Dutton family has proven that they are willing to do whatever it takes to protect their property from opponents of all hues.
But have you ever found yourself enchanted by the moral fortitude of the Duttons in 1883 and 1923, only to be left wondering, “What on earth happened to these paragons of virtue by the time Yellowstone rolls around?” Well, you’re certainly not alone in this thought.

Since its debut in 2018, Yellowstone has ascended to become a juggernaut on TV, bewitching audiences with its rugged landscapes & intricate family drama centered around the powerful Dutton clan. Can there be a Yellowstone without the formidable Bethany ‘Beth’ Dutton, portrayed by Kelly Reilly, opposite Kevin Costner? It’s a rhetorical question that resonates among the minds of fans who have watched her breathe life into Beth with such magnificent depth & complexity from the very beginning.

Taylor Sheridan fans are devastated to hear that Yellowstone will end after five seasons, mainly due to Kevin Costner’s exit. Costner played the family patriarch John Dutton. While on set, Costner ate food from Yellowstone‘s celebrity chef Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau, who cooked for the actors. So, what did Costner eat? Here’s what Gator revealed.
What does Kevin Costner eat while on the ‘Yellowstone’ set?
Chef Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau is featured in Yellowstone and is the chef for the actors in the series. He has a lot of mouths to feed (and food preferences to consider). This, of course, also means he prepared meals for Yellowstone star Kevin Costner during his time on the show as John Dutton.
So, what did Costner like to eat? Gator told Delish that Costner loved his famous pineapple bourbon bread pudding for dessert, as did several other actors from the series. But...

The first season of Yellowstone will be rerun on CBS starting tonight, and that will likely spark additional interest in the modern Western drama series. The first half of the fifth season has aired on Paramount Network, and the second half has been stalled due to the actors and writers strikes, as well as a dispute with its star, Kevin Costner. The latter was likely a contributing factor to the very popular show's cancellation by Paramount.
Starring Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Wendy Moniz, Jen Landon, Kathryn Kelly, the Paramount Network drama follows the Dutton family of Montana, the owners of the Yellowstone ranch.

Has Yellowstone Been Renewed?
This is a bit of a trick question. Paramount Network had always planned on splitting the season into two parts, with the first half launching in November 2022.
The second half was set to premiere in the summer of 2023, but behind-the-scenes drama changed everything for the show.
Initially, it was alleged that Kevin Costner didn't want to commit to filming six more episodes, with reports claiming he gave a small window of availability.

This article contains spoilers for Yellowstone season 5.
The first half of Yellowstone’s supersized fifth season was full of untapped potential, which likely means a final half dozen episodes packed with mayhem. Den of Geek breaks down a few likely scenarios that audiences could see when the show returns.
Will John Dutton Die?
We teased this idea in a previous piece by predicting possible conclusions to the Yellowstone story, and the argument has only grown stronger in season 5.
If you’ve been paying attention to the subtext of this easy-going season 5, there has been one recurring message – this world is not meant for cowboys. To mirror that, show creator Taylor Sheridan has constantly reminded us of John’s (Kevin Costner) mortality. John has been repeatedly reminded that the way his family has run Yellowstone is antiquated. He has to evolve or the Yellowstone will die.
