Diana Haro is a filmmaker from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Haro is also an award-winning film consultant, and producer her work in the movie America's Family was awarded both the Grand Jury Award and the Audience Award for Competition Features at the 25th annual Dances with Films festival in Los Angeles, California. As a Director her experimental film Portrait of Absence got her to be awarded a grant from the Mexican Institute of Cinema. The project A Road Awaits was awarded five international prizes among other around the globe. Haro is a proud member of the international filmmakers collective and nonprofit Brown Girls Doc Mafia.
Diana has worked with Executive Producers Pablo Cruz, in Luis Miguel La Serie, Joe Lazarov, in Coyote; and with directors Fernando Frías in I'm No Longer Here (2018) and Alonso Alvarez Barreda, in The WingWalker 2021. Portrait of a Person Through Their Absence is her first formal project as a director of narrative structure. She participated with the same project in the program competition Plataforma, where she won a place for a development workshop in Mexico City, part of the documentary film festival DocsMx .
In 2020 Diana Haro produced The Road Awaits, a commercial film project produced for the Baja California tourism secretary, a project that was awarded 5 prizes internationally. And the project Camino a Delicias, a film that was screened at 15 festivals including ShortsMx, Bushwick Film Festival and Los Angeles Latino Film Festival. In 2021, Diana received a grant by Fomento Cine Nacional in the category of support for the production of documentaries by region from the Mexican Institute of Cinematography. Her education and professionalization in film includes programs like Self Extended Documentary by UnionDocs in Brooklyn, New York. Writing Seminar from Independent Film Channel, and workshops such as Writing, Filming Living by Paula Markovitch in Mexico City.
