Author, freelance journalist, and producer Mike Steere is known for work of powerful energy and personal voice. He has written narrative nonfiction books and long-form print journalism for numerous national magazines such as Wired, Outside, Men's Journal, and Inc. He has also written for outdoor adventure and sports documentary series aired on Fox, ESPN, and The Tennis Channel. Mike was Co-Executive producer of the feature film Bigger, released in theaters in 2018, which was based on Brothers of Iron, a book he co-authored with modern bodybuilding founders Joe and Ben Weider. Mike's investigative magazine feature In God's Eye is now the basis of a television series in development by eOne, Escape Artists and Bee Holder Productions. The magazine story, and the series, involve crime in the spectacular, pristine wilds of American National Parks, reflecting Mike's lifelong professional and personal passion for stories of the outdoors, adventure, courage, and physical challenge. Mike's work has gone beyond his core experience and expertise to embrace World War 2 history, overseas business, and blogging about fatherhood. His books and scripts in progress explore the dramas and comic absurdities of suburban ballet school, accidental cannibalism, and the untold true story of Nazi POWs in America. Once a Marine, an Iraq War memoir Mike co-authored, was named Book of the Year by the Military Writers Society of America and a finalist in the Indie Book Awards. The magazine story In God's Eye was a 2015 finalist for best news feature in the Western Publication Association's Maggie Awards. Mike's work has won awards from the Associated Press, Society of American Travel Writers and Pacific-Asia Travel Association. His writing has also been included in 'Best Of' book anthologies. Mike lives with his wife and daughter in Los Angeles.
