Tahria Sheather is an Australian-born documentary filmmaker based on the US west coast. She specializes in intimate storytelling spanning the breadth of the human experience. Most recently she directed (second unit) an expedition up Mount Everest for Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa (Netflix, 2024). Her producing work includes Emmy-Award nominated series and features including How To Change Your Mind (Netflix, 2022), Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements (HBO/MAX, 2019) and Wildcat (Amazon, 2023).
Her films have played at festivals including Sundance, Toronto, HotDocs, Tribeca and Camden and on platforms including Netflix, HBO, Amazon and The New York Times. She also directs commercials for mission driven brands. She is a board member of documentary-focused nonprofit Treehouse Project and a Sundance Institute Fellow.
