Born and raised in McAlmont, Arkansas, Breyionna Flowers is a director who works as a set production assistant and a research assistant for Academy award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter. She excelled at Jackson State University, where she received her B.S. in Mass Communication (Production) and her B.A. in Digital Filmmaking (Scriptwriting) from the University of Central Arkansas. She also earned her M.F.A. in Motion Picture Art (Directing) from Florida State University. Her work explores vast spaces of Afro-futurism and theories of Afrocentrism. She seeks to introduce fantastical, cultural narratives on the complexities of Black womanhood and vulnerability. It is her goal that her work becomes a catalyst for conversation, thought and imagination.
