When I first listened to Tk from Ling tosite sigure , it was through Tokyo Ghoul ’s Op, “unravel.” I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this was many anime fans’ first exposure to the singer because it’s truly iconic. You hear him sing in that high-pitched voice of his, “Oshiete yo, oshiete yo,” the instrumentals kick in, and then you get goosebumps. I’ve said this about many other anime songs, but this one ends up on my karaoke list if I’m feeling brave or want to damage my vocal cords. Tk, or Toru Kitajima, is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter from the band Ling tosite sigure. He started releasing music as a soloist in 2011, and since then, he has left a major mark in the anime scene. His music style is an acquired taste for some, but for me who’s an emo at heart,...

Things are definitely heating up for the upcoming Season 7 of My Hero Academia, one of the most popular shonen titles of the modern era. We know that the season is going to premiere on May 4, 2024, in Japan, and the studio is constantly releasing new teasers and preview videos, with the most recent one focusing on some new scenes from the upcoming season, as well as the Op song.
As far as the Season 7 Op is concerned, we know that it is going to be the song “Dare Ware Tame” (誰我為) by Japanese artist Tk from 凛として時雨 (Tk from Ling tosite sigure), a name that will be known to a lot of anime fans. It was revealed during the ‘Ani-rock Fes. 2024 My Hero Academia Plus Ultra Live’ event held at Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa on Feb 25, 2024, that Tk from Ling Tosite Sigure will perform the opening theme song for the seventh season of the anime.
In a statement released following the announcement, Tk expressed his thoughts on the theme song, stating, “I’ve always pondered what I, someone without any unique qualities or talents, could contribute to the series. The theme of this song was born when, in a moment, a soap bubble flew in front of me, reflecting incredibly vivid rainbow colors before leaving its shape imprinted on concrete as it disappeared. Is this battle, which continues even as things are taken away, and even pain cannot be obtained, for myself or for someone else? I hope that the radiance piercing through the tattered world will be engraved alongside this song.“
