Norma Percy Making More ‘Putin Vs The West’
Veteran filmmaker Norma Percy is producing two additional episodes of her seminal Putin vs the West documentary series for the BBC and Arte France. Zinc Media’s Brook Lapping and Les Films d’Ici are attached to co-produce Putin vs the West: War (working title) , which will cover Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine, the proceeding war and the response from the West. The first three episodes explored Putin’s relationship with the West, from the invasion of Crimea to the brink of its wider invasion of Ukraine. “As we always do, we will take viewers behind the scenes to show how and why the crucial decisions were made, and what it was like for Ukraine’s President Zelensky, Britain’s Prime Ministers and Western leaders as they struggled against Putin’s invasion without provoking World War Three,” said series producer Percy.

Blue Ivy Carter is in formation — and her viral dance cameo on the Renaissance world tour is helping one of her mother’s songs reach new heights.
Carter first made a surprise appearance at Beyoncé’s May 26 show in Paris, performing the choreography to the beat driven-track “My Power,” which lit up social media. TikTok users quickly hopped onto the trend and performed the dance as well.
The 11-year-old Grammy winner continued to perform the dance at more shows, and streams and sales of the 2019 Beyoncé song are soaring.
Luminate — which tracks music sales, streaming and airplay — says the week after Carter’s appearance, U.S. on-demand streaming for “My Power” jumped 190 percent, while digital sales for the track increased by 189.8 percent. It performed stronger globally: On-demand streaming increased by 218.2 percent, and digital sales were up by 212 percent.
And the week after — as Carter continued to perform at more shows — the song earned more attention.

Nine days before the new Lion King remake hit theaters, Disney released a clip from the “Hakuna Matata” scene in which a CGI-rendered Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa sing the beloved showtune with the facial expressiveness of a Real Housewives cast after two decades worth of intensive botox treatments. The clip suggested that The Lion King would be a soulless cash grab at best, a crime against humanity at worst. It also made it clear that the remake would never come close to eclipsing the cultural cachet of the 1994 original.
