Based in Paris, France, Mary Tarantola is a French-Italian independent film producer, director, and editor, still photographer and photography curator, and web designer. She is known for her short films Secondo Piatto (2005), La présente directive leur est destinée (2005) (a collection of short films by a number of filmmakers), À Vittorio De Seta resté en Italie (2005), and peRMIs de construire (2008).
In 2006, Ms. Tarantola was introduced to Ivorian still photographer Ananias Leki-Dago in Paris, France by Yvonne Michele Anderson (Ruth Rachel Anderson-Avraham) while working together with her on several film projects, including the short film Ysasu: La Mode dans la rue André del Sarte (2007). Together, in 2007-2008, Ms. Tarantola and Mr. Leki-Dago went on to collaborate on an exhibition of his photographs at the Forum Culturel de Blanc-Mesnil, an arts and culture center in Seine-Saint-Denis, a northeastern suburb of Paris.
Ranging from the representational to the fine art, Ms. Tarantola's own photography has been commissioned by cultural organizations, as well as private actors.
Literate in both art and design, she has also worked as a web designer and webmaster for organizations such as French film distributor and film conservationist Light Cone and the Festival International de Films de Femmes de Créteil.
Mary Tarantola seeks to focus her work on causes and themes which move her, namely the environment, fine arts and culture / the history of art and cultural history, and social issues such as poverty prevention, social protection, and social welfare and assistance. In this spirit, she also dedicates time to giving film and video instruction to children, young people, and adults seeking to pursue a career in the seventh art, or simply seeking to widen their horizons. Since 2014, she has served as President of Entre Ciel et Terre.
