Birmingham, Aug 19 (Ians) Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci) to extend their support to the Indian blind cricket team as the side gears up for the International Blind Sports Federation (Ibsa) World Games 2023 in Birmingham.
Blind cricket has been included in the World Games for the first time and India, Pakistan, Australia, England and Bangladesh will face each other in the 20-over format.
The Pakistan blind cricket team is recognised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb), however, the Indian blind cricket team is not officially recognised by the Bcci.
As India and Pakistan gear up to face each other on Sunday in the Ibsa World Games 2023 in Birmingham, Kaneria congratulated both teams and also made a humble request to Bcci.
“Congratulations to our incredible blind cricket teams from India and Pakistan who will showcase their exceptional talent at Ibsa World Games.

Led by Ajay Kumar Reddy Illuri (B2 Category), the men’s team along with the officials touchdown on Monday.
The World Games 2023 in Birmingham are slated to be played from August 18 to August 27 with blind cricket set for debut in the megaevent.
Speaking after the arrival in London, Cricket Association for the Blind in India (Cabi) Chairman Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar said, “The Indian Men’s Blind Cricket Team’s participation in the Ibsa World Games 2023 is a historic moment for us. We are very confident about our team and we will give our best in the tournament.”

Faridabad, Dec 6 (Ians) Brilliant hundreds from Sunil Ramesh and Deepak Malik helped India open their campaign at the 3rd T20 World Cup for the Blind, with a win over Nepal by 274 runs at the Sledge Hammer Cricket Academy ground, here on Tuesday.
Indian captain Ajay Kumar Reddy won the toss and elected to bat. The opening pair of Sunil Ramesh and Ajay Kumar Reddy started the innings on the front foot and played aggressively, putting up a partnership of 102 runs. After Ajay’s dismissal, Lalit Meena joined Sunil and stitched together a 72-run partnership, before Sunil was retired hurt. The opener smashed 106 runs of 38 balls with the help of 25 boundaries.
Deepak Malik then continued the momentum of the innings along with vice-captain D Venkateswara Rao. The pair remained unbeaten till the end with Deepak scoring a swashbuckling 113 of 34 balls and Venkateswara getting 67 of 22 as India amassed 382/2 in their allotted 20 overs.

New Delhi, Nov 7 (Ians) The Delhi Leg of Elite Pro Basketball Wild Card Try-outs saw over 700 athletes participate making it the biggest-ever open try-outs for Basketball in India.
The 5-day event was a massive success. This league also forays into Ind’a’s only Professional Basketball League in the 5×5 format.
The selection committee included Jagat Narayan Nehra and H. Parmeshwar, who are retired basketball coaches of the Sports Authority of India. The five-day tryouts focused on skills, drills and how the player adapts to playing with different teams and strategy.
On the last day, there was an exhibition match that saw star National players like Jagdeep Singh Bains, Abhishek Tyagi, Abhishek Rathi, Sunil Rathee, Manik Ohlan, Narender Rathee, Rachit, Akshay Adhana, Vikas Yadav, Himanshu Sharma, Abhyudaya Yadav, Vikas Mor, Vinod Rathee, Hansraj Hooda, Gaurav Ohlan, Ravinder Singh, Honey Shringi, Vikas Yadav, Sourav Bagga, Gajendra Singh, Deepak Malik, and Shiv Kumar Khatik taking the court.
