- Born in New Orleans, Louisiana to a machinist and an office worker, Dillon Melerine soon learned the value of discipline, hard work, and his own mind. Seeing that drive and potential, his parents invested their life savings into educating him at the best schools they could afford, in order to ensure that he could one day leave St. Bernard Parish for a large university and effect some real change in whichever field he chose. This led him to Holy Cross School, an old New Orleans high school with an newfound commitment to technology that had not lost its roots in ethics. While there, he became a member of a new scholars program, which allowed him to explore different fields of study and determine his own interests. As a junior, he wrote, animated, and directed the short film Architect of Dystopia with his friend Dominic Lincoln, confirming his career interests in the process. For, though he had once wanted to be an animator, the most pleasure in the film came from designing the buildings and structures and imagining an entirely new world, not bound by the limits of modern technology. Because of this, Dillon's Senior Thesis would explore the use of additive manufacturing and high strength plastics in the construction of High Rise Buildings, which he hopes to continue in college and beyond.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Dillon Melerine
