Frank Krutnik

Frank Krutnik has taught at several universities in England, Scotland and the USA and is Emeritus Reader in Film Studies at the University of Sussex. He is the author of the books In a Lonely Street: Film Noir, Genre, Masculinity (1991), Popular Film and Television Comedy (with Steve Neale, 1990) and Inventing Jerry Lewis (2000), and co-editor of Un-American Hollywood: Politics and Film in the Blacklist Era (2008) and, with Richard Maltby, Film, Cinema, Genre: the Steve Neale Reader (2021). His book on radio noir will be published by Rutgers University Press in 2024. Besides publishing numerous articles in leading scholarly journals devoted to film and popular culture he is also a musician who has worked in such bands as Watching King Kong and molebrigade.
