Davita van der Velde is a Dutch-born, Melbourne based actress with 10+ years of experience in screen, stage & voice acting. Her most recent credits include a currently on-air TVC for Quest Hotels & Apartments, the lead role in MICF 22's sold out comedy "Empathy Training" and Tabitha in the Melbournesque short "Human Bean".
She holds a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts - including the Wesley Institute Awards for Excellence in Drama and Integrative Studies, and has enjoyed full time training at the UCK "Drama Preparatory Year" in Utrecht and part time Mime and Physical Theatre at the AHK in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, prior to her move to Sydney, Australia in 2013. She currently continues to refine her skills via training at StageMilk, while also seizing every working moment on set as an opportunity to learn on the job.
Before moving to Australia, Davita travelled to many countries throughout Europe and briefly lived in Mexico City. The challenges and obstacles of such an adventurous life have given her incredible skills in adjusting and adapting quickly to different countries, cultures and circumstances, and the ability to communicate in different languages and accents, as well as a strong sense of identity within herself.
In Australia, she's done the "city life" as well as the "country life" in Orange, NSW, where she trained horses for a living. She's a very capable cyclist, swimmer, cook, Dutch-teacher and any kind of rope or yarn-craftswoman, who also enjoys doing yoga, Pilates, salsa dancing and playing acoustic guitar at an intermediate level, as well as dabbling in singing and martial arts. Her rich experience of life's many beauties and difficulties, fuels her passion to imitate and further explore it on screen and stage, and facilitates her doing so from a vastly and uniquely experienced perspective.
