The couple behind h3h3productions and the digital media company known as Bbtv are in the midst of a messy breakup. h3h3 co-host Ethan Klein has threatened to take Bbtv to court after accusing the network of improperly claiming $620,000 of YouTube Channel Membership revenue.
h3h3productions partnered with Bbtv in 2017, when the Vancouver-based company still referred to itself as BroadbandTV. By the terms of the agreement, h3h3 got to keep 100% of “Google Net Revenue,” which included income from YouTube.
The partnership carried on for years, but Klein recently noticed that something was “off.” With help from the h3h3 team, he discovered that Bbtv had claimed $620,000 of revenue from Channel Memberships, even though those payments came from Google itself.
Klein reached out to Bbtv for clarification, and he claims that the network defined his Channel Membership sales as “Other Net Revenue,” which would entitle Bbtv to a 30% cut.

Andrew Callaghan has issued a statement after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct.
Allegations came first from Caroline Elise, who posted a three-minute video on TikTok Jan. 5 where she describes an experience she had with Callaghan in 2021. Before going into the details, she explains that she had “tried to come to [Callaghan] person-to-person and tried to get him to take responsibility for what he did, but his version of what happened the night he assaulted me is so skewed.”
Elise alleges she allowed Callaghan to stay at her house for one night because he’d had a falling out with his crew members and needed somewhere to sleep, but says she was “very clear about the fact that we are not hooking up.”
“I will tell you that he eventually did get consent,” she says. “And that’s the main point, is that he eventually got consent because he wore me down.

Andrew Callaghan, the comedian behind A24 and HBO January 6 documentary “This Place Rules,” is facing multiple sexual misconduct allegations after two women came forward this month accusing the internet comedian of pressuring them to have sex.
The “All Gas No Brakes” YouTube channel comic, known for his deadpan lampooning of society on the margins with man-on-the-street style interviews, from QAnoners to Burners and Flat Earthers, has yet to publicly address the allegations. Caroline Elise, the user @cornbreadcasserole on TikTok, alleged that Callaghan asked to spend the night at her place following a falling out with a fellow crewmember. Despite her rebuffs, he “eventually got my consent because he wore me down.” She added, “I said whatever because I was trying to get the whole thing over with…it doesn’t discount that I told him no. [He] still found a way to coerce me into doing things I didn’t want to do.

Whoopi Goldberg has become the latest celebrity to announce they’re leaving Twitter in the wake of Elon Musk’s takeover.
The View co-host made the announcement on her ABC show Monday.
“It’s been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and this place is a mess,” she said. “I’m getting off today because I just feel like it’s so messy, and I’m tired of now having certain kinds of attitudes blocked now getting back on. So I’m gonna get out, and if it settles down enough and I feel more comfortable maybe I’ll come back. But as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter.”
Goldberg listed all the whiplash announcements Musk has made since completing his takeover of the social media platform — such as the new blue checkmark program going from 20 to 8, and staff firings and re-hirings.

It’s a new day, which means there’s a new war of words breaking out on Twitter.
The platform’s mercurial new owner, Elon Musk, has made dozens of wild promises during his first two weeks at the helm. For one of his latest swings, he took aim at YouTube and its revenue-sharing policy.
Musk claims that Twitter can beat YouTube’s split by offering creators more than 55 of the ad revenue they generate. If the Chief Twit can deliver on that promise, it would be an enticing deal for many — but that’s a huge if. YouTube stars like Hank Green and Ethan Klein have criticized Musk for his erratic behavior. In Klein’s case, mockery of Musk earned the h3h3productions host a Twitter ban.

Elon Musk cast some doubt on his own declaration that comedy is now ‘legal” on Twitter after suspending several accounts — including those belonging to actual comedians Sarah Silverman and Kathy Griffin — for parodying him over the weekend.
Taking advantage of these last fleeting days before a blue checkmark costs 8 a month, Griffin and Silverman changed their profile pictures and display names to match Musk’s and had a bit of fun. For instance, Silverman pointedly tested the courage of Musk’s convictions, tweeting, “I am a freedom of speech absolutist...

Elon Musk said Twitter users who impersonate other handles, without specifying it as a “parody” account, will be permanently suspended without a warning after a number of prominent accounts, including that of comedian Kathy Griffin, were kicked off the platform for pretending to be the billionaire and posting tweets mocking him.
Musk, the newly installed majority owner and CEO of Twitter and self-proclaimed free speech absolutist, revealed the policy in a tweet thread Sunday night. Musk tweeted, “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended.”
In a pair of follow-up tweets, Musk wrote, “Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.” He added, “Any name change at all...

As one of the top female streamers on Twitch, Kaitlyn Siragusa has built a streaming empire on Asmr, cosplay, and adult entertainment content — and it doesn’t hurt that she’s very attractive. Known on Twitch as Amouranth, Siragusa told Rolling Stone’s Twitch channel in May that her experience with unwanted sexualization led her to monetize her looks. “Even before I started streaming and stuff, guys would sexualize girls just out and about in public, and you aren’t able to do anything about it, really,” she explained. “So I just felt like,...

Howie Mandel Does Stuff, the podcast co-hosted by the comedian and his daughter Jackelyn Shultz, will join The Roost, the podcast network of Warner Bros. Discovery’s digital media subsidiary, Rooster Teeth.
As part of the deal, The Roost will have the exclusive ad sales and merchandise rights to the podcast. The podcast network, which targets Millennial and Gen Z audiences, will also grow the series as a video podcast — a medium that more podcast creators have ventured into by sharing video versions of their shows on platforms like YouTube and Spotify.
Mandel and Schultz first launched the show in 2020 during the pandemic and have featured interviews with guests like Terry Crews, Tony Hawk, John Stamos and Sarah Silverman.
“It’s clear to us that this podcast has energized his already loyal fanbase, allowing them a deeper, and less filtered connection with Howie.

On January 16, YouTube announced massive changes to its partner program. Under the new rules, creators will need to amass at least 1,000 subscribers and more than 4,000 hours of watch time before they are allowed to become a partner and earn money from ads that play before their videos. Across the internet, much of the reaction to this update has been negative. A litany of detractors, led by creators like Boogie2988 and Michelle Phan, has accused YouTube of abandoning small-sized channels.

YouTube was notably delayed in responding to the Logan Paul controversy, in which the massively succesful daily vlogger exploited suicide by vlogging a dead body while vacationing in Japan. But now that the platform has swung its gavel roughly a week and a half after the incident, top creators are applauding the response.
Ethan Klein of the popular commentary and comedy channel h3h3Productions said that YouTube had done a "good job" in deciding to yank Paul from its Google Preferred ad tier, and remove him from the original Red series Foursome. (A sequel to YouTube Red's The Thinning has also been put on hold). “Although I disagreed with the many that thought his channel should be removed,” Klein added, “this punishment is warranted and I'm glad to see it.”

In court, Ethan and Hila Klein of h3h3productions are fighting to defend fair use on YouTube, but their battle is taking a significant financial toll on them. In a recent video, Ethan revealed that he and Hila have paid more than $50,000 in a single month to cover legal fees for their defense team.
In May 2016, YouTuber Matt Hosseinzadeh of MattHossZone brought a suit against h3h3productions after he was the target of a video on their secondary channel. While Hosseinzadeh offered a settlement if certain terms were met, Ethan and Hila opted to take the matter to court.
After realizing their court battle would cost them $100,000, Ethan and Hila launched a GoFundMe page to build a legal defense fund. Thanks in part to contributions from YouTube stars like Philip DeFranco and PewDiePie, the couple ultimate raised more than $150,000.
Now, however, it appears even that massive total will not be enough.
