Is Grillo’s character trying to muscle in on The General’s territory? Who will tell him how much of a bad idea that would be?

Tulsa King season 2 has now started shooting, and Deadline reports that Craig Zisk (Weeds) has signed on to direct and executive produce the Paramount+ series.
It was reported last year that showrunner Terence Winter would be stepping down from the series following some creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. However, he decided to come back as a writer for the second season, which would keep his interactions with Sheridan at a minimum.
While Winter is still involved as an executive producer, he will primarily focus on writing for the show as well as working closely with Sylvester Stallone. “He loves these characters and loved working with Sly and was glad his post-strike schedule allowed him to return to write but not run the show,” a source said. Instead of bringing in another showrunner, the production decided to follow in the footsteps of the other shows produced by Sheridan’s 101 Studios...

Exclusive: Craig Zisk has been tapped to direct and executive produce Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ original series Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone, which has started production. Now designated as a comedy series, Tulsa King will film in Oklahoma and Atlanta.
As Deadline reported in February, Terence Winter, who stepped down as showrunner of the mob drama/comedy after its first season, has come back as a writer on Season 2 in addition to his continuing duties as an executive producer. The series opted not to get a replacement for Winter in line with the practice at the other Sheridan series produced by 101 Studios that don’t have a traditional showrunner. Instead, Tulsa King, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, was to bring in a director/executive producer, which it now has with Zisk’s hire.

After SAG-AFTRA leadership announced that the union would be going on strike, picketing began on Friday. In New York City and Los Angeles, actors have joined writers outside the studios, picketing and rallying outside of Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Disney, Amazon, NBCUniversal and others in both cities.
Corporate greed was at the center of messaging on day one of the joint picketing from SAG-AFTRA and the WGA.
When the bus carrying SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher and the rest of the negotiating committee arrived outside of Netflix’s LA offices, they were mobbed by media and fellow protesters as they inched their way down the sidewalk along Sunset Boulevard.
Drescher delivered a passionate speech at the Thursday press conference announcing the strike, and showed up to today’s protests equally ready to fight fire with fire. When asked by Variety Friday about Disney CEO Bob Iger’s recent comments about the strike,...

Spoiler alert: The following article discusses elements of the first two episodes of “Tulsa King.”
Over the course of a half-century-long career, Sylvester Stallone has little room for firsts; but the Oscar-nominated actor, writer and producer is finally making his entry onto the small screen with creator Taylor Sheridan and showrunner Terence Winter’s new Paramount+ series “Tulsa King.” The show finds Stallone portraying the “off-kilter” ex-mafia capo Dwight Manfredi, who is unceremoniously dumped by his mob family in the Oklahoma city after a 25-year stint in prison. While characterizing the veteran actor and ‘80s-era icon as needing no introduction is a woeful understatement, Manfredi enlists guidance wherever he can find it — navigating Uber, understanding pronouns and setting up shop with a local medical dispensary.

Fifteen years after “The Sopranos” concluded its run on HBO, a new gangster series has arrived on the scene. It’s called “Tulsa King.”
Helmed by “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan, the new series marks Sylvester Stallone’s first foray into the world of television.
“It’s very hard to find something original,” Stallone said on Wednesday night at the “Tusla King” New York premiere. “And when it comes knocking on your door, you have to be a fool to say no.”
How will “Tulsa King” stand apart from other gangster series? For one, it’s a Western that takes place outside the big city. Stallone’s character, antiquated mafia capo Dwight Manfredi, is tasked with establishing a criminal organization in Tulsa, Okla. after serving a 25-year prison sentence.

Creator Taylor Sheridan had been intrigued by the idea of a show like Paramount+’s “Tulsa King,” which features Brooklyn-bred mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) being unceremoniously transplanted in Oklahoma. The “Yellowstone” creator, who also serves as executive producer, broke down the genesis of the series in a new making-of featurette.
“A gangster from New York to Middle America to establish the mob’s influence in the area — what an absurd comedy of errors that would be,” he said in the clip.
That’s when he brought on Terence Winter as showrunner and EP, who he believed would have a “keen understanding of this world and would appreciate a real fresh look at it” having served as a producer on “The Sopranos,” arguably the most well-known depiction of New York mobsters.

In Sylvester Stallone’s first major television role, created for him by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone) and written by Terence Winter, he’s a New York City–bred Mafia capo who took a fall and spent 25 years in prison in Tulsa King. The “reward” for his loyalty, besides becoming very well read? The boss exiles him to Oklahoma to start a new branch of the crime family. Stallone sounds mighty kinglike in a TV-ma clip the actor shared on social media: As brawny Dwight “The General” Manfredi, 75, he profanely threatens a beheading if one guy approaches his estranged twentysomething daughter, Tina (Tatiana Zappardino). “Dwight doesn’t curse as much as he used to. He saves the F-bombs for gangster mode,” Winter says. “He’s still trying to ply his trade but also trying to be a better, gentler, kinder version of himself.” Tulsa King, Series Premiere, Sunday, November 13, Paramount+/Paramount Network...
