Martin Conaghan is an award-winning producer-director and writer with a career spanning over 22 years at the BBC and on major freelance projects, including the acclaimed TV documentary 'Walter: A Life in Football' in 2021.
In 2019, he produced and directed 'Off the Ball: Petty and Ill-Informed', a documentary celebrating 25 years of the popular Radio Scotland show presented by Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan. He is also the producer of the BBC archive series 'Rewind', and 2019, he developed the award-winning documentary 'Jocky Wilson Said' for BBC ONE. He has also produced 'In Tandem: The Neil Fachie Story' and 'Changing Landscapes' with co-producer Tim Niel.
Other credits include producing and directing 'Boycotts and Broken Dreams' with Jay Merriman-Mukoro - a one-hour BBC documentary about the financial and political calamity that engulfed the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, and producing on the multi-award winning series 'Scotland's Game', about the social history of Scottish football. Industry awards for programmes he has worked on also include the RTS Scotland Award for producing 'Football Abuse: The Ugly Side of the Beautiful Game', and the BAFTA Scotland awards for the investigations 'Rangers: The Men Who Sold The Jerseys' and 'Sins of Our Fathers'. In 2020, 'Jocky Wilson Said' won the Celtic Media Award for Best Sport Documentary.
He has also written, produced and directed short drama films, the most recent being 'Spores' for the Scottish Film Talent Network/Creative Scotland, with Frances and Richard Poet.
