Marissa Abaya is an actress, singer, musician, dancer and visual artist from Northern California.
She served as host for Disney/Lucasfilm's Let's Make Star Wars series and served as the red carpet interviewer for STAR WARS: The Rise of Skywalker and host/interviewer for Discovery (Tech for Global Good and STEM Sit-Down). She's also provided voices (speaking and singing) for products from LeapFrog and VTech. She has also starred in several commercials and industrial films. She became interested in acting at the age of ten, after winning several 1st place awards in annual elocution contests in Northern California.
Marissa is also a singer/songwriter (jazz, rock, gospel, pop, soul) and plays several instruments (upright bass, electric bass, guitars, ukuleles, piano, and violin). Her awards include the Worldstrides Maestro Award for gospel singing, and The Louis Armstrong Award for Jazz Instrumental Performance. In addition to her solo projects, she performs with her rock group (Compound Fracture) and Jazz Combo (Limp Jazz), and other groups of different genres. She has also made guest appearances on recordings by a variety of artists including DJ Qbert, William Zhao, and Craig Abaya (who happens to be her father).
Marissa grew up dancing in SF Bay Area productions of The Nutcracker, where she has held both lead and supporting roles.
She is a digital and traditional artist whose work has been featured in the Comic-Con International souvenir book and designed the cover of DJ Qbert's Q&A single.
She also loves to skateboard and bike, and is interested in science and technology; winning 2nd place in Physics in the San Mateo County STEM Fair.
