- At age 20, interned for Roger Corman's production company in Brentwood, CA reading horror scripts.
- Recalls meeting producer Shep Gordan in 2004 and filmmaker Dean DeBlois in 2005. Both were incredibly gracious and shared their wisdom and knowledge of the industry, which Mike said was "essential" and "inspirational" for him at that point in time.
- Heavily influenced by Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 film "Magnolia".
- Has two professional screenwriting degrees from UCLA. Professional (06') and Advanced Professional (08').
- Has always gone by his middle name "Michael" or "Mike" but when he was very young, he started writing short stories while vacationing with his grandparents, who called him "John Michael", so in memory of them, he uses his full name as his credited name.
- Was contacted in 2009, to write a treatment for a "Superman Returns" sequel. In it, Superman battled three different villains.
- Has not received or taken 1 cent from the budget of either of his two films "Loyal to the Game" and "Heartbreak Falls". Opting instead to put all available money towards the production of the films.
- Works as a script doctor on the side when he has time (TV pilots, screenplays). He has since 2009.
- Debut film "Loyal to the Game" screened at eight film festivals in 2015 and 2016 including the prestigious New York City International Film Festival, where lead actor Franck Juste Jr. was nominated for an award as Best Actor in a short film.
- Favorite films are "Jaws" (1975), "Heat" (1995), "The Revenant" (2015), "The Godfather Part II" (1974) and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989).
