“America’s Got Talent” continued the live shows of its 18th season on September 19 with the fifth and final round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” On Tuesday night’s show, 11 acts performed for America’s vote and only two of them will advance to “The Finals” when the results are delivered by Terry Crews on Wednesday night. Before that happens, we can reveal that Your two favorite acts of the night were Brazilian singer Gabriel Henrique and Japanese dance troupe Avantgardey, as voted on by viewers in Gold Derby’s overnight poll.
Gabriel was the only Golden Buzzer act to perform on Tuesday night. He was Sofia Vergara‘s selection after his audition where he sang the Whitney Houston power ballad “Run to You.” At the time, Sofia explained her choice by saying that as a judge they’re “waiting for that feeling and that was what I was waiting for...

“America’s Got Talent” continued its Season 18 live shows on Tuesday, September 19 with the fifth and final round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” Judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara take a back seat during this stage of the competition because all of the power is now in America’s hands. The audience votes for their favorite acts overnight with results airing on Wednesday. Only two of the 11 acts in each of the five “Qualifiers” will advance straight to “The Finals.”
The “Qualifiers 5” episode featured performances from Sofia’s Golden Buzzer selection, singer Gabriel Henrique, as well as chorale group 82nd Airborne Chorus, dance group Avantgardey, mariachi singer Eduardo Antonio Trevino, dancer Eseniia Mikheeva, hula hoop artist/aerialist Grace Good, singer Lachune, comic magician Mandy Muden, acrobatic duo Ramadhani Brothers, magician Sangsoon Kim and singing guitarist duo Trailer Flowers.

To date, eight of the 11 finalists have been named for the “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 finale, and five of them are Golden Buzzers: dance groups Murmuration and Chibi Unity, plus singing acts Putri Ariani, Lavender Darcangelo and Mzansi Youth Choir. There is still one week left to go in the Qualifiers round, and Gold Derby readers predict one additional such act will advance to the finale: singer Gabriel Henrique.
That would mean roughly half of the 2023 finalists received a confetti shower in their auditions. However, that doesn’t necessarily give them an advantage over the non-Golden Buzzer acts still in the competition: dog act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane, comedian Ahren Belisle and magician Anna DeGuzman. In fact, you don’t have to look back too far throughout “AGT” history to find an example of such an act going on to win the show.

As in the past, this year’s champion will take home a $1 million cash prize and be able to showcase their talent as a headlining act in Las Vegas. Only 55 acts get to perform in the “AGT” Qualifiers to compete for America’s vote and hopefully move one step closer to the finale.

Putri Ariani, the 17-year-old singer who grew up in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, has secured her place in the America’s Got Talent finals as she left Simon Cowell “speechless” on Tuesday’s (September 5) episode of the hit competition series. Ariani, who is blind, previously wowed the judges in the audition stages with her emotional performance of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” And on Tuesday, she did it again, as she sat at the piano and sang a rousing rendition of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” The teenager, who previously won Indonesia’s Got Talent back in 2014, received a standing ovation from the judges and live audience. “I’m actually kind of speechless right now,” Cowell said. “What I was thinking was how, first of all, what a beautiful voice you’ve got, what a beautiful version.

Putri Ariani went viral earlier this summer on “America’s Got Talent” when she earned Simon Cowell‘s Golden Buzzer in the Season 18 auditions. The blind singer and pianist is Simon’s pick to win the competition, and she demonstrated why during the Tuesday, September 5 live show at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium as part of the “Qualifiers 3” round. After she belted out “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” Simon revealed U2 “cleared” the song specifically for Putri, and Heidi Klum compared her to “an angel singing.” (Read our minute-by-minute recap.) This summer, “America’s Got Talent” returned for its 18th season with Terry Crews resuming his hosting duties and Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara once again making up the judges panel. As in the past, this year’s champion will take home a $1 million cash prize and be able to showcase their talent as a headlining act in Las Vegas. Only 55 acts get to perform in the “AGT” Qualifiers to compete for America’s vote and hopefully move one step closer to the finale.
Tuesday’s “Qualifiers 3” features encore performances by two Golden Buzzer acts: South Africa’s Mzansi Youth Choir selected by the audience and singer/pianist Putri Ariani chosen by Simon; as well as comedian and pianist Barry Brewer Jr., aerialist and sword swallower Herwan Legaillard, tap dancer Justin Jackson, brass group Mos, violinist Philip Bowen, dance group Phil Wright & Parent Jam, singer Summer Rios,...

On August 8, “America’s Got Talent” season 18 closed out the first round with the final performances from hopefuls in “Auditions 9.” By this point, six Golden Buzzer acts had been announced–one from each of the four series judges, another from host Terry Crews, and a special Audience Golden Buzzer. But after the Japanese dance group Chibi Unity took the stage, the panel had no choice but to bring back the Group Golden Buzzer for another season. Watch the full performance that in the video above.
Before Chibi Unity performed for the judges, they told Simon Cowell that they were inspired by champions Mayyas. Simon explained that Mayyas are the best dance act that’s ever been on the show, but that didn’t stop the spokesperson for Chibi Unity from asserting that they’re eager to perform to show what they can do as well. “America’s Got Talent” continued season 18 on August 8 with the final two-hour showcase of first round performances in “Auditions 9.” There are no changes to judges’ dais this summer with executive producer Simon Cowell and long-time judge Howie Mandel taking their place on the ends of the table. The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the American version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.
Throughout the auditions, the four “AGT” judges (and the host as of Season 11) get to press the Golden Buzzer for a single act that moves them emotionally, which sends the performer straight through to the live shows. During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists are allowed to push the button as well for their favorite act. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be a new audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd. Want a refresher on all of the “America’s Got Talent” Golden Buzzers through the years?...

This act came all the way from South Africa to show their talent and caught the judges off-guard by performing “It’s Ok,” a song written and originally performed by late contestant Nightbirde. “America’s Got Talent” took a break from the regular season 18 programming on July 25 with a two-hour showcase of Simon Cowell‘s most memorable acts from “AGT” and “Britain’s Got Talent” seasons past. In the episode, Simon sits down with Terry Crews to count down his top 16 favorite first auditions. Simon explained that he was tasked with compiling a list of 15, but there was one other act he couldn’t not include so he pushed the list to 16!
Season 18 auditions will resume next week on August 1 with “Auditions 8.” We are still expecting a final Golden Buzzer act to be selected by Sofia Vergara. One of the most talked-about acts to come out of this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions is Putri Ariani, thanks in no small part to Simon Cowell blessing her with his Season 18 Golden Buzzer. All these months later, Simon is reflecting on the 17-year-old blind singer/songwriter’s audition at the piano and he’s expecting big things for her in this competition. “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on,” he reveals in the NBC video above.
Putri came all the way from Indonesia to show the world her talent, and she performed two songs on the big stage: “Loneliness” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” “There was something about her, even before she started to sing,” Simon now declares. “I just — I had a feeling. And I’ve done this a long time.

On July 11, “America’s Got Talent” season 18 continued with the sixth installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given one “golden buzzer” decision to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. On “Auditions 6,” Heidi Klum asked Lavender Darcangelo if she could be her cheerleader “all the way to the finish line” as she hit the Golden Buzzer for her vocal performance. Watch the full performance that in the video above.
Ahead of her performance of “Out Here on My Own,” Lavender introduced the judges and audience to her adopted father who was assisting her on stage due to her blindness. As the story goes, Lavender attended an after school music program that her dad ran and at a point when their connection had developed strongly enough, she asked him and his husband to adopt her. “America’s Got Talent” continued season 18 on July 11 with a two-hour showcase of acts in “Auditions 6.” There are no changes to judges’ dais this summer with executive producer Simon Cowell and long-time judge Howie Mandel taking their place on the ends of the table. Heidi Klum returns as well, as does Sofia Vergara who took a break when “All-Stars” aired earlier this year. Hosting duties are entrusted to the lively Terry Crews once again.
In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. If two or more judges buzz the act, they are immediately eliminated. Each judge and Crews has one chance to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances.

On June 27, “America’s Got Talent” season 18 continued with the fifth installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given one “golden buzzer” decision to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. Typically we see someone on the panel make this decision in each episode, but on Tuesday’s “Auditions 5” all 12 acts to perform came up short. Surprisingly, the night’s final act, singer Lachune, did not have the gold confetti rain down her despite a beautiful and powerful rendition of “Yellow.” Watch her full performance in the video above.
Before singing for the judges, Lachune introduced herself as both a student and a vocal teacher living in Texas after growing up in a family of singers in South Carolina. She told Simon Cowell that she’s held herself back from taking the stage because she’s been an observer of other singers instead.
