Gottfried Böhm was born on January 23, 1920 in Offenbach am Main, Germany. He was married to Elisabeth Böhm. He died on June 9, 2021 in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
One of Germany's most famous architects, he is the father of three equally famous architects, Paul Böhm, Stephan Böhm and Peter Böhm. His elder brother Paul Böhm has worked as a medical doctor.
Son of architect Dominikus Böhm (Jettingen, Germany, 23 October 1880-6 August 1955, Cologne, Germany), he won the 1986 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
