Charles C. McCue(1927-2006)
Charles McCue was born May 31, 1927 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Charles
V. and Mary (Hartz) McCue. He attended Barberton High School in
Barberton, Ohio, graduating in 1945, thereafter serving in the U.S.
Navy, stationed on Guam. After his Navy service he attended Ohio
University and entered the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1953, serving
in patrol posts Bucyrus, Fremont, and as Post Commander in Ashland. He
became active in producing driver's education films and was an
instructor for the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council. He had further
training at Kent State University and the Northwestern University
Traffic Institute. He eventually transferred to Warren, Ohio and became
the Assistant District Commander for the Eight Northeast Counties of
Ohio. He retired from the Ohio Highway Patrol as a Staff Lieutenant in
1979 and took a position as Eastern Region Security Manager until 1984,
when he transferred to corporate headquarters Safety Department in
Mansfield, Ohio. He retired from Sprint in 1992 and died in Medcentral
Hospital at Mansfield on June 30, 2006, survived by his wife Rosemary
Winebrenner McCue, whom he married December 30, 1948, three sons, three
daughters, and their respective families.
