- Injured his ankle in Game 5 of San Antonio's 2017 semi-finals series against the Houston Rockets. Then in the 3rd quarter of Game 1 of the 2017 Western Conference finals against the Golden State Warriors, Leonard re-aggravated his existing ankle injury after Warriors center Zaza Pachulia stuck his foot out in Leonard's landing space after attempting a field goal. Leonard exited the game with 26 points and sat out the for the remainder of the series as the Spurs lost to the Warriors in four games.
- Was selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. However, Leonard was traded on Draft night by the Indiana Pacers along with the rights to Erazem Lorbek and Davis Bertans to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for George Hill.

- Leonard played two seasons of college basketball (2009-2010 & 2010-2011) for the San Diego State Aztecs and was named a consensus second-team All-American as a sophomore. He opted to forgo his final two seasons of college eligibility to enter the 2011 NBA draft.
