On Wednesday, June 5, an Italian court upheld Amanda Knox‘s 2009 conviction of slander in which she falsely accused her former boss Patrick Lumumba of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher. Two days before her latest court trial, the 36-year-old took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share that she would be defending herself once again.
Her post which was shared on June 3 read, “On June 5th, I will walk into the very same courtroom where I was reconvicted of a crime I didn’t commit, this time to defend myself yet again. I hope to clear my name once and for all of the false charges against me.” The retrial got Knox a three-year jail sentence which she will not serve because she already served 4 years following her wrongful conviction of Kercher’s murder.

Amanda Knox’s attempt to “clear my name once and for all” in connection to the headline-gripping 2007 murder of her roommate in Italy concluded Wednesday with a re-conviction for slander as an Italian court found Knox wrongly accused an innocent man for the killing.

Amazon’s Prime Video has snapped up the UK and Ireland rights for The Murder of Meredith, a documentary that dives into the shocking 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher. According to Deadline, the 90-minute doc will land on Amazon in November and aims to reframe the narrative around the tragic events of November 1, 2007, when the 21-year-old Kercher was brutally murdered in the Italian town of Perugia. At the time, Kercher’s life was overshadowed by American student Amanda Knox, her flatmate who was accused of her murder, along with Rudy Guede and Raffaele Sollecito. A media frenzy took place at the time, with Knox becoming the driving subject of headlines. Knox, Guede, and Sollecito were originally found guilty of murder by the Italian courts. However, Knox and Sollecito later had their convictions overturned. The Murder of Meredith will be told by those involved with the case, delving into the evidence,...

Exclusive: Prime Video is to delve into the shocking murder of British student Meredith Kercher back in 2007.
Amazon’s streaming service has boarded The Murder of Meredith and taken UK and Ireland rights. British indie Woodcut Media is producing and distributor Abacus Media Rights has the rights elsewhere and will be selling the feature-length doc in Cannes at Mipcom.
The 90-minute doc is set to launch on Amazon in November after Abacus brokered an agreement with Amazon. It will look to reframe the narrative around the terrible events of November 1, 2007, when the 21-year-old Kercher was brutally murdered while studying in the Italian university town of Perugia
Her story led to a media frenzy full of speculation, twists and turns. Over the years, her life and reputation have been pulled apart and eclipsed by Amanda Knox, the American student and Kercher’s flatmate who was accused over her murder along with Rudy Guede and Raffaele Sollecito.

Christopher Robinson is defending his wife, Amanda Knox, from "cruel" comments. On Nov. 23, an Italian judge released Rudy Guede, who was previously convicted of the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher. Shortly after being freed from prison after completing 13 years of his 16-year sentence with time off for good behavior, Guede spoke out about the case that made headlines around the world. In an interview with The Sun's Nick Pisa, Guede maintained his innocence while offering condolences to the Kercher family. "The first thing I want to say is to the Kercher family and how sorry I am for their loss," Guede said. "I have written a letter to them in...

In his new film “Stillwater,” co-writer/director Tom McCarthy wanted to present the image of an American hero – and then turn it on its head. The film, now in theaters, stars Matt Damon as Bill Baker, a roughneck from the titular town in Oklahoma who travels to Marseille, France to visit his imprisoned daughter Allison (Abigail Breslin.) A stranger in a strange land where he doesn’t speak the language or truly understand the dynamics, Bill’s only company is a single mother (Camille Cottin) and her young daughter
McCarthy, who won an Oscar for his screenplay for “Spotlight,” a film he directed to a best picture win, worked with co-writers Marcus Hinchey, along with French writers Thomas Bidegain and Noé Debré, who frequently collaborate with Jacques Audiard. The film premiered to a warm response – and a five-minute standing ovation — at the Cannes Film Festival last month. One person who...

Matt Damon’s new movie, Stillwater, opens by building up to a gentle but pointed bit of misdirection, the subtle sort of deviation from our expectations meant to say as much about the audience as it does about the man at the story’s center — something of an running theme for this particular movie. When we first see Bill Baker (Damon), he’s waist-deep in rubble, the recognizable but devastated remains of what used to be someone’s home. Bill is a roughneck from Oklahoma, a state squarely, oft-tragically at the center of that mid-u.

Amanda Knox, the American woman who was convicted and then exonerated of the 2007 murder of her roommate and fellow exchange student while studying in Italy, has called out Tom McCarthy’s new film “Stillwater” for making a “profit” off her life story. In the film, Matt Damon plays an oil rigger and father to a young woman who, while estranged from him and visiting France, is accused of a crime she says she did not commit. While McCarthy has said that the similarities — in that both Knox’s story and the film center around an American tourist swept up in a sensational crime — stop there, Knox blasted the movie in a Medium.com essay as well as on Twitter (see below).
“This new film by director Tom McCarthy, starring Matt Damon, is ‘loosely based’ or ‘directly inspired by’ the ‘Amanda Knox saga,’ as Vanity Fair put it in a for-profit article promoting a for-profit film,...

Amanda Knox, an American exchange student who spent nearly four years in Italian prison for the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher before being acquitted in 2015, was the inspiration for the just-released “Stillwater,” starring Matt Damon and directed and co-written by Tom McCarthy.
Although “Stillwater” spins a fictitious story, McCarthy has not been shy about name-checking Knox during the press cycle, and a Vanity Fair interview with her name in the headline inspired Knox to take to Twitter on Thursday to slam the film and creative team.
In the film, Abigail Breslin plays Allison Baker, an American foreign exchange student imprisoned in a jail in France after being convicted of murdering her roommate, a plot that shares some — but not all — similarities with Knox’s story. Damon plays Bill, her conservative father, who travels from Oklahoma to Marseille, in the hopes of catching the real killer and setting her free.

Writer-director Tom McCarthy’s movie ‘inspired’ by 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher reinforces conspiracy theories about the case, says Knox
Amanda Knox has accused actor Matt Damon and director Tom McCarthy of “rip[ping] off my story without my consent at the expense of my reputation” in the upcoming film Stillwater, which McCarthy has said was inspired by Knox’s experience after the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy.
In an essay on the online publishing platform Medium, Knox takes particular aim at McCarthy, who told Vanity Fair that Stillwater was directly inspired by the Kercher case, which resulted in Knox being wrongly convicted for Kercher’s murder along with her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and spending four years in prison, before ultimately being acquitted in 2015 by Italy’s supreme court of cassation. Rudy Guede, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2008, is the only person convicted of Kercher’s murder.

Amanda Knox criticized the new film Stillwater, a movie inspired by the American student’s ordeal in Italy, in a long series of tweets Thursday.
“Does my name belong to me? My face? What about my life? My story? Why does my name refer to events I had no hand in? I return to these questions because others continue to profit off my name, face, & story without my consent. Most recently, the film #Stillwater,” Knox wrote. “This new film by director Tom McCarthy, starring Matt Damon, is ‘loosely based’ or...

Amanda Knox is speaking out after Rudy Guede, the man who was convicted of the 2007 killing of her study abroad roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy, was released from prison. In a blog post, which she also recorded as a bonus episode of her podcast Labyrinths, Knox stated that although the "evidence of Guede's guilt is overwhelming, as is the lack of evidence implicating any other suspect," he still has not "faced appropriate consequences" for his "horrific crime." She pointed out that Guede, who was convicted of sexual assault and conspiracy to commit murder, was sentenced to just 16 years in prison, and was granted day release after 10 years....
