Randy LaBarge
- Writer
- Producer
- Director
After a career in the U.S. Air Force, Randy moved to a
second career in one of the U.S. Department of Energy's national
laboratories. While at the national lab he started a regional
entertainment newspaper (The Entertainer) and eventually sold the
company to write his very own American Novel. But after two completed
manuscripts and two children's picture books, Randy heard screenwriter
Blake Snyder speak at a writer's conference and made the leap to
writing screenplays. To date he has completed two feature length
scripts: "Baghdad Coffee Company" and "Please help Our Kid". "Baghdad
Coffee" was a finalist in the 2011 Pacific Northwest Literary Contest
and "Please Help Our Kid" won First Place in 2012. He has completed several addition feature-length scripts, Strays (Rom-Com), Not On My Watch (action/suspense) (co-written with Jeff Bailey) and The Peculiars (Action/adventure) (co-written with author Maureen McQuerry).
In addition, he has written eight shorts screenplays, five of which have been produced. Along the way, he established the Southeast Washington chapter of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, lectured and presented workshops on story structure and basic
screenplay formatting at a local high schools and in regional NW
writer's conferences.
Once a member of the Northwest Screenwriters Guild, Randy has attended classes and workshops by Lew Hunter, Michael Hauge, John Truby, Linda Seger, Syd Field, Christopher Vogler and Blake Snyder.
Randy is a disarmingly funny, heart-warming writer who is keenly perceptive of the human condition. His writing explores the human condition and exposes the humor in life in an honest and quirky way.
In addition to writing, Randy is producing and directing short films.
