Justin Geertsen is a Danish actor and writer from Copenhagen, Denmark. His passion for cinema ignited during his childhood while watching numerous old Danish movie classics alongside his grandmother. Films such as Father of Four (1953), Farmer's Life (1965), and Charles tante (1959) left a lasting impression on him. However, it was, at a very young age, an unexpected encounter with Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) that solidified his desire to pursue a career in the film industry. At the tender age of seven, Justin landed the leading role in a short film produced by the esteemed alternative film school Super16. The short film, Engle hører til i himlen (2012), portrayed Justin as Lau, an orphan grappling with profound loss after the death of his father. This early experience on set further fueled his passion for acting and storytelling.
Following that, Justin immersed himself in a plethora of short films. However, in 2019, he achieved a significant milestone by securing a series regular role as Jonatan in the critically acclaimed DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation)-produced drama series Cry Wolf (2020), which garnered the prestigious award for Best TV Series at the Danish Film Award (Robert). The series had its nationwide premiere in Denmark in the autumn of 2020 and had its debut on Séries Mania in March of 2020, further solidifying its acclaim. Additionally, in 2020, Justin attained a leading role in another DR-produced series, the youth-dark fantasy The Darkness Between Us (2020), where he portrayed a young boy on a quest to rescue his sister from the clutches of a malevolent force.
Furthermore, in 2020, he commenced his high school education. He successfully graduated in 2022 while simultaneously pursuing his acting career. That same year, amid exams, he secured a role in season four of the highly popular cozy-murder-mystery TV series The Sommerdahl Murders (2020) as the guest lead Peter, a young pusher suspected of the murder of his best friend, which premiered in May of 2023, starring opposite Peter Mygind and Laura Drasbæk, who played his mom in the short film Hero (2018). Additionally, in 2022, he starred in Mr. Freeman (2023), a feature-length film produced by Zentropa Productions and written/directed by Sundance-winner Mads Matthiesen. The film premiered in cinemas in January of 2024 and had its international debut at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February of the same year.
In 2023, Justin returned to his roots by portraying the lead role of William in the world-ending-disaster short film FOMO/Armageddon, produced by Super16.
